Description

This role requires an experienced offshore ROV Pilot Technician with strong electrical, Network/IP, mechanical, and fault-finding capabilities.

Experience with integrated networked control systems, IP-based communications, video systems, and modern Observation Class ROV architecture is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting ROV operations, maintaining equipment to the highest operational standards, supporting mobilisations and demobilisations, and delivering safe and efficient subsea services to customers.

Working independently and within multidisciplinary teams, the technician will provide technical and operational support both onshore and offshore while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Safety

- Ensure all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices are understood and followed.
- Promote and actively contribute to a positive HSE culture.
- Participate in HSE Observation, STOP, and Life Saving Rules programs.
- Exercise Stop Work Authority (SWA) whenever an unsafe condition or act is identified.
- Comply with all Oceaneering Life Saving Rules and associated fatality prevention behaviours.

ROV Operations and Piloting

- Pilot and operate Observation Class ROV systems safely and effectively during offshore operations.
- Conduct pre-dive, in-water, and post-dive checks of ROV systems and support equipment.
- Monitor ROV performance, diagnose operational issues, and implement corrective actions as required.
- Perform ROV launch and recovery activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support clients by delivering safe, productive, and high-quality ROV services.
- Maintain accurate dive logs, maintenance records, operational reports, and project documentation.
- Participate in mobilisation, demobilisation, integration, commissioning, and offshore deployment activities.

Technical Responsibilities

- Inspect, maintain, repair,



and troubleshoot Observation Class ROV systems, subsea tooling packages, and associated support equipment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Conduct electrical, Network/IP, mechanical, and electronic fault-finding and repair, including diagnosis and troubleshooting of Ethernet networks, fibre optic systems, cameras, sensors, and integrated control systems.
- Carry out function testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), and commissioning activities.
- Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, network architecture diagrams, system integration drawings, and technical procedures.
- Maintain equipment maintenance records, asset tracking information, and certification status within company management systems.
- Assist with technical improvements, equipment modifications, upgrades, and system enhancements.
- Ensure all equipment remains operationally ready and maintained to the highest standard.
- Interface with customer representatives and provide technical support where required.
- Support workshop operations, field activities, and ad hoc operational requirements.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, non-conformance reporting, and Management of Change processes.

- Support the training and development of junior personnel where required.
- Complete all assigned competencies, certifications, and mandatory training requirements.

Qualifications

Essential (Mandatory)

- Minimum 2 years' experience operating and piloting Observation Class ROV systems in an offshore environment.
- Demonstrated experience mobilising, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Subsea Tooling equipment.
- Demonstrated experience with Network/IP-based systems, Ethernet communications, and troubleshooting integrated control networks used in subsea, marine, or industrial applications.
- Electrical, Network/IP, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Information Technology, Electronics, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Proven experience fault-finding and maintaining complex electro-mechanical and Network/IP integrated systems and equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in offshore operations and safe work practices.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, network architecture diagrams, system integration drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel offshore and internationally for extended periods.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Passport and all required offshore certifications and medicals.

Desired

- Experience with Oceaneering Observation Class ROV systems and subsea intervention equipment.
- Experience with fibre optic communications, managed switches, network configuration, IP cameras, video distribution systems, and integrated ROV control systems.
- Experience with asset management and maintenance management systems.
- Current offshore survival, medical, and industry-recognised offshore certifications.
- Experience supporting offshore energy, marine, defence, or subsea operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
