Located in Mingenew, Western Australia, SSC Space operates a Satellite Ground Station facility featuring a multitude of satellite dishes and other high tech space monitoring equipment.

The site hosts equipment from several countries to monitor and track space launches and other space related science. You will be maintaining this equipment using your RF, mechanical, and electronics experience and skills.
Working in a close knit team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects related to the activities at their satellite earth station. This is a hands-on role encompassing the operation and maintenance of their state of the art satellite communications systems as well as general site maintenance.
The company provides specialized competence in design, test, launch and operation of space and air systems. The technical team at this site maintains and operates equipment to support satellite launches and ongoing satellite missions at five remote stations around the globe. Each station is a critical contributor to the global services provided by a continually growing number of stations around the world.
Requirements
You are proactive and committed to providing excellent support to customers, with a genuine interest in developing your understanding of the technical aspects of ground station equipment. You can work autonomously and under pressure, and you have excellent communication skills.
Australian
Citizenship is required for this position.
Minimum Essential Requirements
- Initiative and commitment to provide excellent support to our customers
- Mechanical Skills
- Basic understanding of electrical and electronic test equipment
- Desire and ability to learn the technical aspects of ground station equipment
- Ability to work at heights up to 15-meters, including operating elevated working platforms
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all seasons
- Flexibility to adjust schedule to work nights and weekends when required.
- Availability to travel at short notice
- Ability to follow and enforce safe work practices
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common applications
- Current motor vehicle driver's license
- Australian Citizenship
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
Helpful Skills
- Knowledge of RF test and measurement
- Communications equipment experience
- Prior ground station or teleport work experience
- Understanding of RF communications systems (eg. satellite communications, ham radio, etc)
- Skills with IT and network equipment, to include the Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Multilingual
- Relevant Trade, Military or University qualifications
- The successful applicant will be expected to enhance and grow skills across a broad range of activities.
Responsibilities You will be responsible for maintaining ground systems and the site status. As an operations and maintenance technician you will also ensure timely and accurate entry of maintenance data into the maintenance tracking system as well as analysis of maintenance statistics to support highly reliable service delivery. In the future, there is the possibility to travel to international remote sites to assist with maintenance, provide operational support and help with new equipment installation. Travel to international sites include Thailand, Japan, and Sweden. Other sites may be necessary as the ground system grows.
Duties
- Maintenance of antennas and associated equipment.
- Participate in weekly Work Order reviews
- Maintenance system administrative work
- Assist in launch support and satellite orbit raising
- Assist at remote sites with equipment installations

- Documentation and record keeping

LOCATION This is a full-time position based at our station in Mingenew, Western Australia. Most of the team car pool from either Geraldton or Dongara in WA each day.
