Position: School Nurse

Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate, responsible, and experienced School Nurse to provide healthcare support to students and staff and manage the school infirmary. The Nurse will be responsible for attending to minor injuries and illnesses, providing first aid, maintaining health records, and coordinating with parents and medical professionals during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day functioning of the school infirmary.
- Provide first aid and immediate medical assistance to students and staff.
- Assess and attend to students experiencing illness, injury, fever, allergies, or other health concerns.
- Monitor students who require medical attention or observation during school hours.
- Administer medication to students only as per prescribed instructions and school policies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health and medical records.
- Maintain records of first-aid cases, injuries, medication, and health incidents.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding students' health concerns when required.
- Coordinate with nearby hospitals, clinics, doctors, and emergency services when necessary.
- Handle medical emergencies calmly and efficiently and follow established emergency procedures.
- Ensure that the infirmary is clean, hygienic, properly stocked, and well maintained.
- Check and maintain adequate stocks of medicines, first-aid supplies, and medical equipment.
- Monitor expiry dates of medicines and medical supplies.
- Support the school during health check-up camps,
vaccination drives, and health awareness programmes.
- Assist in maintaining health and safety standards across the school.
- Provide basic health education and guidance to students on hygiene, nutrition, and general well-being.
- Maintain confidentiality of students' medical information.
- Coordinate with school administration and teachers regarding students requiring special medical attention.
Qualification
- GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) – Mandatory.
- Valid registration with the relevant State Nursing Council is preferred/required as applicable.
- Additional qualifications such as B.Sc. Nursing will be an added advantage.
The GNM qualification is a recognised nursing programme, and registered GNM nurses are qualified for professional nursing practice under the applicable nursing council framework.
Experience
- 2–5 years of nursing experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a school, paediatric clinic, hospital, or healthcare setting will be an advantage.
- Experience handling children and school-age students will be preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong first-aid and emergency-handling skills.
- Good knowledge of basic healthcare and infection-control practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, caring, and approachable personality.
- Ability to interact effectively with children, parents, teachers, and staff.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions during emergencies.
- Solid sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
