Position: NIMAS Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

- Create and validate NIMAS-compliant XML file sets from print PDFs, InDesign files, and other source formats.

- Structure content according to NIMAS/DAISY standards, including headings, lists, tables, images, page navigation and footnotes.

- Prepare XML, OPF, NCX, image and supporting files required for a complete NIMAS package.

- Write and review alt text for images, diagrams, charts and other instructional content.

- Handle complex educational content, including mathematics, scientific notation and tables.

- Validate packages against NIMAS requirements and resolve XML, metadata and packaging errors.

- Perform quality checks before submission to NIMAC or the client.

- Address client or NIMAC validation feedback and resubmit corrected files.

- Maintain project documentation, checklists and delivery records.

Required Skills and Experience:





- At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience in NIMAS file creation and validation.

- Strong knowledge of XML, DTBook, OPF, NCX and DAISY/NIMAS standards.

- Experience with educational or K–12 publishing content.

- Familiarity with NIMAC submission and certification requirements.

- Working knowledge of accessibility standards and alt-text requirements.

- Experience with XML editors and validation tools, such as Oxygen XML Editor.

- Positive understanding of HTML, CSS, EPUB and MathML would be an advantage.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage quality and delivery timelines.
