- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic kidney diseases, including Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, electrolyte disorders, and hypertension-related renal disease.
- Provide comprehensive OPD, IPD, emergency, and critical care consultations.
- Manage patients requiring hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and renal replacement therapy.
- Evaluate and manage complications associated with dialysis and end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
- Assess and manage patients with fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base disorders.
- Provide nephrology consultation for ICU and critically ill patients, including indications for renal replacement therapy.
- Perform or supervise appropriate nephrology procedures as per hospital protocols and individual competency, including temporary dialysis catheter placement, renal biopsy, and related procedures where applicable.
- Manage patients with resistant hypertension and secondary causes of hypertension.
- Evaluate potential candidates for kidney transplantation and provide pre- and post-transplant nephrology care where applicable.
- Coordinate with Urology, Cardiology, General Medicine, Critical Care, Radiology, Pathology,
and other specialties for multidisciplinary patient management.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up.
- Participate in emergency calls, ward rounds, ICU rounds, and on-call duties as per hospital requirements.
- Maintain compliance with hospital clinical protocols, infection-control practices, patient-safety standards, and NABH requirements.
- Counsel patients and attendants regarding disease condition, treatment options, dialysis, lifestyle modification, and prognosis.
- Participate in clinical audits, academic activities, CME programs, teaching, and training of residents/junior doctors where applicable.
- Maintain skilled and ethical standards in all patient-care activities.
Educational Qualification MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
MD/DNB in General Medicine followed by DM/DNB in Nephrology, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), as applicable.
Valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
Candidates must meet the applicable NMC and institutional eligibility requirements.
