Role & responsibilities

Mobile Application Development

- Design, develop, and maintain Android and/or iOS applications
- Build scalable, high-performance mobile applications aligned with DSS platforms
- Ensure smooth user experience across different devices and OS versions

Real-Time Data Integration

- Integrate applications with backend APIs and real-time data feeds
- Handle streaming or near-real-time updates for weather alerts, forecasts, and risk information
- Ensure efficient data synchronization between server and mobile applications

Alerting and Notification Systems

- Implement push notification systems for early warnings and alerts
- Ensure reliable delivery of time-sensitive notifications
- Support user-level customization of alert preferences

Offline Functionality and Performance Optimization

- Develop offline-first features for low-connectivity environments
- Optimize app performance, battery usage, and data consumption
- Ensure application stability under high data loads and emergency conditions

UI/UX Implementation

- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement intuitive and user-friendly interfaces
- Ensure responsiveness and accessibility across different screen sizes
- Maintain consistency with design systems and usability standards

Testing and Deployment

- Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and debugging
- Prepare builds and manage app releases on Google Play Store and Apple App Store
- Ensure compliance with platform guidelines and security standards

Maintenance and Support

- Provide ongoing maintenance, bug fixes, and feature enhancements
- Monitor application performance and user feedback
- Ensure continuous improvement of application functionality

Collaboration and Coordination

- Work closely with Full Stack Developers, AI/ML Developers, GIS Experts, and domain specialists
- Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and technical discussions
- Support coordination with stakeholders and partner agencies

- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor in line with project needs and priorities.

Deliverables:

- Fully functional Android and/or iOS applications
- Integration with DSS platforms and backend systems
- Real-time alerting and notification features
- Offline-capable mobile application modules
- Clean, maintainable, and version-controlled code
- Published applications on app stores (where applicable)
- Technical documentation and user guides
- Periodic progress reports aligned with project timelines

Preferred candidate profile

Education:

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

Experience:

- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in mobile application development
- For Android:

Proficiency in Kotlin / Java Experience with Android SDK, Android Studio
- For iOS:

Proficiency in Swift / Objective-C Experience with Xcode and iOS SDK
- Or Cross-Platform:

Experience with Flutter / React Native/ Ionic

Core Technical Skills:

- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and real-time data services
- Experience with mobile UI frameworks and responsive design
- Knowledge of offline-first architecture and local data storage (SQLite, Room, Core Data)
- Experience with push notifications (e.g., Firebase Cloud Messaging, APNs)
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
- Understanding of mobile app performance optimization and debugging

Desirable Skills:

- Experience with map-based applications (Google Maps, Mapbox, Leaflet-based integrations)
- Familiarity with GIS and geospatial data visualization
- Experience working with real-time alerting systems
- Knowledge of mobile security best practices
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps
- Experience deploying apps to Google Play Store and Apple App Store
