Position: MIS Head – Data Collection & Analytics

Reports To: Dean / Associate Dean – QAR

Job Summary The MIS Head leads the Data Collection & Analytics vertical, managing the end-to-end institutional data lifecycle for rankings, accreditation, and regulatory reporting. The role ensures accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data submitted to QS, THE, ARWU, NIRF, NAAC, and other frameworks while building and maintaining robust MIS infrastructure. This role reports directly to the Dean / Associate Dean – QAR in accordance with the organisational structure.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Lead the design and implementation of data collection strategies aligned with all ranking and accreditation requirements.
- Manage and develop the institution's MIS platform to support QAR data requirements.
- Responsible for building a data collection system.
- Understanding the data requirements, data collection, and analysis.
- Oversee data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from source systems.
- Ensure system uptime, data security, and integrity of MIS databases.
- Generate periodic MIS reports for regulatory submissions and institutional decision-making.
- Develop automated data collection pipelines to reduce manual effort and data error rates.
- Coordinate with schools, departments, and administrative units to ensure accurate and timely data submission.
- Prepare and review data packages for NIRF, NAAC, NBA, QS, THE, and ARWU submissions before final sign-off.
- Identify data gaps and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
- Train and supervise the Assistant Manager – Data Collection and all Data Collection Officers.




- Train departmental data coordinators on data collection protocols and system usage.
- Monitor data governance standards including data privacy, integrity, and statutory data protection norms.
- Maintain audit trails for all data submissions to regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with the IT department for system upgrades, integrations, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Ensure MIS systems comply with data protection and information security standards.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory data disclosure norms and mandatory reporting requirements.

Key Competencies

- Advanced proficiency in database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL) and MIS platforms.
- Solid knowledge of ETL processes, API integrations, and data warehousing.
- Expertise in business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL).
- Understanding of higher education data requirements for NIRF, NAAC, and ranking frameworks (QS, THE, ARWU).
- Statistical analysis skills and ability to interpret large datasets.
- Knowledge of data protection legislation and institutional data governance frameworks.
- Project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
- System administration and IT governance skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

- Master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role in a higher education institution.
- Hands-on experience with NIRF, NAAC, and global ranking data submissions.
- Experience managing enterprise-level MIS or ERP systems.
- Certifications in database management or data governance are an advantage.
