About the Role

Medical Transcriptionist

Key Responsibilities

- Transcribe dictated recordings from physicians, surgeons, and consultants including history & physical examinations, discharge summaries, operative notes, consultation reports, and diagnostic/radiology reports.
- Review and edit documents for grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency with medical terminology and hospital formatting standards.
- Interpret medical abbreviations, drug names, and specialty-specific terminology accurately.
- Maintain and update patient records in physical files and within the hospital’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Identify and flag inconsistencies, incomplete dictations,



or discrepancies to the concerned physician for clarification.
- Ensure all documentation meets hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient confidentiality standards.
- Deliver completed reports within specified turnaround times.
- Uphold strict confidentiality of all patient information at all times

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Medical Transcription, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred; Entry-level candidates with strong medical terminology training may also be considered.
- Certification in Medical Transcription (e.g., CMT) is a plus.
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy (60+ WPM).
- Proficiency with transcription software and EHR/EMR systems.
- Strong listening skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under deadlines.
- Sound understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection standards.
