Suggested Position SummaryPosition: Medical Superintendent
Location: Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh
Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer / Managing Director
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall clinical and medical operations of the hospital and ensure delivery of safe, ethical, and high-quality patient care.
- Provide clinical leadership and coordinate effectively with Consultants, Heads of Departments, Nursing, Quality, Pharmacy, Diagnostics, and other support departments.
- Ensure implementation and compliance with clinical protocols, hospital policies, statutory requirements, and patient-safety standards.
- Lead and support NABH accreditation and continuous quality-improvement initiatives, including clinical audits, documentation, incident reporting, corrective and preventive actions, and quality indicators.
- Monitor clinical outcomes, patient safety indicators, infection prevention practices, mortality/morbidity reviews, and other key clinical performance metrics.
- Address and resolve clinical, operational, and patient-related issues in coordination with the concerned departments and hospital management.
- Ensure appropriate medical manpower planning, duty rosters, on-call arrangements, emergency coverage, and clinical resource utilization.
- Establish effective communication and coordination among medical, nursing, administrative, and support teams.
- Review patient complaints, clinical incidents, medico-legal matters, and adverse events and ensure appropriate action and documentation.
- Participate in hospital committees, clinical meetings, audits, mortality reviews, quality reviews, and accreditation assessments.
- Promote evidence-based clinical practices,
ethical medical conduct, patient dignity, confidentiality, and compassionate care.
- Support doctor recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, privileging, performance monitoring, and professional development.
- Encourage a teaching and learning environment and support postgraduate training, academic activities, CME programs, clinical discussions, and staff development.
- Review clinical and operational data and use insights to improve patient experience, clinical efficiency, and hospital workflows.
- Coordinate with external authorities, professional bodies, insurance/TPA teams, and other stakeholders whenever required.
- Support the management team in strategic planning, expansion of clinical services, and development of new specialties.
- Ensure preparedness for medical emergencies, disaster management, mass-casualty situations, and other clinical contingencies.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- MBBS with MD/MS or equivalent postgraduate qualification, with valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
- Preferably 10+ years of clinical experience, with significant experience in hospital administration or clinical leadership.
- Prior experience as Medical Superintendent, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Medical Director, Clinical Head,
or equivalent in a multi-specialty hospital will be preferred.
- Experience in a NABH-accredited or NABH-preparing hospital would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, quality management, hospital operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work closely with senior management while maintaining clinical independence, professional ethics, and patient-centric decision-making.
- Valuable understanding of HIS/EMR and healthcare technology systems.
- Previous experience in India and familiarity with the healthcare environment in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana would be an advantage.
