Role Description This is a full-time, in office Medical Oncologist role based at Shashwat Hospitals in Gujarat, India.
The Medical
Oncologist will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with solid and hematological malignancies, developing individualized treatment plans using chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and other systemic modalities.
Responsibilities include coordinating multidisciplinary care with surgical and radiation oncologists, haematologists, pathologists, and allied health professionals, as well as participating in tumor boards and case discussions. The role involves monitoring treatment response, managing side effects and complications, providing palliative and survivorship care,
and maintaining clear, empathetic communication with patients and families.
The Medical
Oncologist will also contribute to quality improvement, clinical protocols, and ongoing professional development, and may participate in research, teaching, and community education initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical foundation in Medicine, with demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and managing complex medical conditions.
- Specialized proficiency in Oncology and Cancer care, including solid and hematologic malignancies and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Hands-on experience with Chemotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapies, including protocol selection, administration oversight, and toxicity management.
- Understanding of Radiation Therapy principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with radiation oncologists in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
- Recognized medical qualification (MBBS) with MD/DNB in Medicine or Oncology, and relevant registration with national medical authorities.
- Experience in a tertiary care or dedicated oncology center, with exposure to multidisciplinary tumor boards and complex case management.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered, ethical, and non-discriminatory approach to care.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment, manage time and workload efficiently, and adapt to evolving clinical guidelines and technologies.
- Interest in research, clinical audits, or teaching, and commitment to continuous professional development
