Job Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment, automated machinery, robotic systems, and industrial automation. The role focuses on maximizing equipment availability, reliability, and productivity by performing preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance while ensuring compliance with Cummins' Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), and quality standards. The technician will also support machine validation, precision measurement, pneumatic systems, robotics, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing equipment to maximize machine uptime and reliability.
- Assemble, install, align, level, and commission manufacturing equipment, machinery, and automation systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving bearings, gearboxes, shafts, ball screws, linear guides, drive systems, and other machine components.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, pneumatic schematics, machine layouts, and technical documentation.
- Read, assemble, install, troubleshoot, and optimize pneumatic systems including cylinders, valves, FRLs, regulators, sensors, tubing, and air preparation systems.
- Support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, teaching, and recovery of industrial robots and collaborative robots (Cobots).
- Assist in End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) installation, setup,



and optimization for robotic applications.
- Perform precision measurement activities including runout, flatness, parallelism, concentricity, alignment, repeatability, and machine accuracy verification using precision measuring instruments.
- Analyze machine performance and measurement data to identify improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
- Support machine upgrades, modifications, retrofits, and automation improvement projects.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production downtime and support manufacturing requirements.
- Participate in TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, automation, and maintenance teams to improve machine performance and process capability.
- Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), quality, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a protected and organized work environment.
