ABOUT THE ROLE

We are an early-stage engineering startup looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who can take an engineering problem from a rough idea to a working physical product.

You won't just be creating CAD models. You'll be expected to understand requirements, develop concepts, make engineering decisions, select materials and components, design for manufacturing, build prototypes, test them, troubleshoot problems, and iterate until the design works.

Typical projects may include

- Designing a mount for a servo motor
- Designing an enclosure for an electronics module
- Developing mechanisms, brackets, fixtures, frames, and assemblies
- Designing components for robotics and automation
- Taking a design from concept → engineering calculations → CAD → prototype → testing → manufacturing

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Convert engineering requirements and real-world problems into practical mechanical designs.
- Develop concepts and evaluate different design approaches.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Perform basic engineering calculations for loads, stresses, deflection, torque, fasteners, shafts, bearings, and other mechanical components as required.
- Select appropriate materials, fasteners, bearings, motors, hardware, and off-the-shelf components.
- Apply appropriate tolerances, fits, clearances, and GD&T; where required.
- Design components with strength, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and ease of assembly in mind.
- Work with CNC machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, laser cutting, and other manufacturing processes.
- Generate manufacturing-ready CAD files, drawings, BOMs, and documentation.

- Coordinate with electronics and other engineering teams for mechanical/system integration.
- Build and evaluate prototypes.
- Test, troubleshoot, identify failure points, and improve designs through iteration.
- Take ownership of assigned designs from initial requirements through to a functional prototype or production-ready solution.

REQUIREMENTS

- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Strong skills in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, Creo, NX, or similar CAD software.
- Good understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering drawings.
- Understanding of tolerances, fits, GD&T;, materials, fasteners, bearings, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform practical engineering calculations and justify design decisions.
- Ability to independently identify problems, develop solutions, and make engineering trade-offs.
- Ability to work with prototypes and translate test results into design improvements.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) is a plus.
- Experience with robotics, automation, motors, mechanisms, electronics enclosures, or physical product development is a robust advantage.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN ENGINEER, NOT JUST A CAD OPERATOR The ideal candidate should be able to answer:

What is the problem?

What are the possible solutions?

Why did you choose this design?

Will it actually work?

Can it be manufactured?

Can it be assembled and maintained easily?

What happens when the prototype fails?

How would you improve it?

We value engineering judgment and problem-solving ability just as much as CAD skills.

WORK & COMPENSATION

- Fully remote
- No fixed working hours
- We value responsiveness, ownership, communication, and getting the work done rather than tracking hours.
- Workload will be managed reasonably. If a particular week requires significantly more work, the workload will be balanced with lighter work in subsequent weeks.
- Initial compensation: ₹20,000–₹30,000/month
- Compensation can increase substantially as the engineer demonstrates greater technical capability, independence, and ownership.
- Exceptional performers who consistently demonstrate the ability to independently own projects, solve complex engineering problems, and deliver working, production-ready designs may progress to up to ₹1,00,000/month within one year.
- Salary progression is strictly performance-based and is not guaranteed.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Someone who genuinely enjoys building things and solving mechanical problems.

You should be comfortable working with incomplete information, figuring things out independently, making engineering decisions, and learning whatever is necessary to get a project working.

Because we are an early-stage startup, you'll encounter a wide range of engineering challenges rather than repeatedly working on the same type of component.

The ideal candidate

- Takes ownership instead of waiting for step-by-step instructions.
- Learns quickly and is comfortable entering unfamiliar technical areas.
- Thinks beyond the CAD model and considers how the actual product will behave.
- Is comfortable with prototypes, failures, testing, and iteration.
- Communicates clearly and responds reliably.
- Wants to see their designs become real physical products.
