At Paving+, we're not making paver blocks — we're building India's decarbonised construction material ecosystem. We turn plastic waste and industrial by-products into engineered, low-carbon materials that replace conventional cement, aggregates, and asphalt in roads, buildings, and infrastructure.
We're hiring a Material Scientist / R&D; Engineer to join our Kolkata lab and plant, working on mix design, formulation, and waste valorisation for our next generation of low-carbon construction materials — from DURACRETE (cement-reduction) to P-80 (materials made from ~80% plastic waste, zero virgin aggregate).
What you'll do:
- Design and optimise concrete/composite formulations using plastic waste, fly ash, GGBS, and other industrial by-products
- Run mechanical, durability, and material characterization testing and translate results into formulation improvements
- Support scale-up of lab-validated mixes into pilot and full production batches with the factory and QC teams
- Evaluate incoming waste streams for suitability as raw material inputs
- Maintain rigorous experiment records and testing documentation
- Ensure formulations meet relevant IS/ASTM/BIS standards
What we're looking for:
- 2–6 years in material science, concrete technology, polymer science, or construction materials R&D;
- Bachelor's/Master's in Civil, Material Science, Chemical, or Ceramic Engineering (or related)
- Hands-on experience with concrete/mix design, admixtures, or SCMs (fly ash, GGBS, slag)
- Comfortable working across both lab and live production environments
- Solid experimental discipline and data documentation habits
Nice to have:
- Exposure to plastic waste modification, geopolymer technology, or UHPC
- Experience with industrial waste streams (slag, ceramic waste, stone/marble dust)
- Interest in sustainability, circular economy, or ESG-linked material development
