Role Description The LIC Bima Sakhi role at Life Insurance Corporation of India involves engaging with local communities in West Bengal to promote life insurance awareness and facilitate access to LIC’s products and services. Day-to-day tasks include meeting potential customers, explaining insurance plans in simple language, assisting with proposal forms and documentation, and helping policyholders understand policy benefits and claim procedures.
The role also involves organizing and participating in community outreach activities, maintaining basic records of customer interactions, and coordinating with LIC branch staff for policy issuance and servicing.
This is an on-site role based in West Bengal, India, requiring regular field visits and interaction with individuals and families in the assigned area.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse individuals, including strong interpersonal skills and basic local-language proficiency (Bengali and/or Hindi).
- Basic understanding of financial products or willingness to learn about life insurance, savings, and protection plans through LIC training.
- Ability to build trust within the community, work ethically, and maintain confidentiality of customer information.
- Comfort with fieldwork, including visiting households, local groups, and community centers on a regular basis.
- Minimum educational qualification typically at the secondary or higher secondary level; higher education in any stream is an advantage.
- Motivation to support financial inclusion, especially for underserved communities, and interest in a performance-linked income structure.
- Basic organizational skills for maintaining records and following up with customers; familiarity with smartphones for calls and messaging is beneficial.
- Prior experience in community work, customer service, or sales is an added advantage but not mandatory.
