– Legal Counsel (Real Estate & Litigation)

Role Purpose

Provide legal support for Biocon's corporate business, including real estate transactions, infrastructure projects, and business dispute and litigation matters by ensuring robust contract and litigation management, legal compliance, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsible for end-to-end handling and closures of contracts, from negotiating, vetting, reviewing, drafting, finalization and sign off, including lease agreements, lease & license agreements, sale deeds, MoUs, and other real estate-related contracts.
- Support land acquisition, leasing, and infrastructure/project-related legal documentation.
- Advise business teams on contractual and legal risks related to real estate and projects.
- Conduct title due diligence and identify legal risks in property transactions.
- Advise on potential legal exposure, commercial disputes, labor claims, and regulatory actions.
- Strategically guide dispute resolution, negotiates settlements, drafts settlement agreements,



and handles pre-litigation claims before they escalate to formal court filings.
- Actively manage arbitration/mediation/litigation matters by coordinating with relevant stakeholders, external counsel and preparing legal documentation.
- Control legal spend, select and evaluate the performance of external law firms.
- Coordinate discovery process, collect internal documents and preserve electronic data (e-discovery).
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and maintain legal records, including internal trackers.

Qualifications & Experience

- LL.B.
- 3-5 years of experience in corporate legal or a law firm.
- Hands-on experience in real estate contracts, lease documentation, project-related agreements, and litigation.
