Purpose/Objective

Lead - Security Operations ensures comprehensive security and safety across various airport zones, including airside, terminal, control rooms, CISF, landside, and other operational areas.

This leadership position interacts with Head - Security at various airports to ensure uniform security strategies, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the effective functioning of security systems.

The Lead of Security Operations will drive the execution of security protocols, operational efficiency, and the continuous enhancement of security measures to address emerging threats and safeguard assets, passengers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Security Strategy Implementation: Collaborate with the CSO and Head - Security to develop, refine, and implement security strategies, policies, and frameworks in line with evolving industry standards and airport security needs.

Provide insights and data from operational activities to help shape long-term security plans and initiatives.

Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, ensuring that security systems evolve with the changing threat landscape and as per the regulation.

Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices across airports.

Operational Management: ( landside / AVSEC / Loss Prevention): Oversee security operations across airports, ensuring that security measures are implemented across all airport sites effectively and consistently.

Ensure that effective incident response mechanisms are in place at each airport.

Provide guidance and support during major security incidents or emergencies.

Regularly monitor and assess the performance of security teams at different airports, ensuring they meet performance targets and compliance standards.

Oversee security audits, both internal and external, and ensure that airports meet all regulatory compliance requirements.

Address any audit findings and implement corrective actions.

Risk Assessment and Security Intelligence: Regularly conduct security risk assessments for the network of airports.

Identify emerging threats and risks, and develop strategies for mitigation.

Work closely with local, national, and international intelligence agencies to gather security-related information.

Ensure the proactive management of potential security threats based on this information.

Monitor and analyze global and regional security trends to adjust security strategies accordingly.

Ensure that vigilance levels are maintained high across all airport sites.

Policy Development & Compliance:



Assist CSO and Head security in Design, implement, and review security policies, procedures, and programs to safeguard people, assets, and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.

Drive the implementation of AVSEC standards per ICAO Annex 17, NCASP, NCASQ BCAS, and other governing bodies, and ensure compliance with the latest aviation security practices.

Strive to continuously improve the design, operation, implementation and maintenance of ASP, AVSEC standards as established by BCAS and other regulatory authority.

Crisis & Incident Management: Oversee and Develop, implement, and periodically update crisis management plans for all airports.

Lead the response during major security breaches, emergencies, or incidents.

Ensure that crisis management training and simulations are conducted regularly across all airports.

Guide Head - Security to prepare teams for a variety of emergency scenarios, ensuring readiness at all times.

Oversee recovery processes to ensure the swift restoration of normal operations following any security incidents.

Develop and ensure business continuity protocols are in place across the network.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between security teams at different airports and other key stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, airport management, and regulatory bodies.

Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies such as BCAS, DGCA, ICAO, and local law enforcement to ensure compliance with security regulations.

Provide regular updates to senior management and relevant stakeholders on the status of security operations, ongoing challenges, and potential risks.

Budgeting and Resource Management: Oversee the security budget for the entire network of airports.

Ensure cost-effective allocation of resources for security systems, staffing, and training.

Ensure that sufficient resources, including personnel, technology, and equipment, are available to meet operational needs at all airports.

Ensure that financial expenditures related to security operations are in line with approved budgets.





Assist in the procurement process for security equipment and systems.

Security Technology & Automation Support: Oversee the integration of advanced security technologies (CCTV, access control, surveillance systems, Screening systems etc.

) across all airports.

Ensure that security systems are regularly maintained and upgraded.

Champion the adoption of cutting-edge security solutions to enhance operational efficiency and response times.

Drive the use of data analytics and AI for security operations where applicable.

Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and support the security leadership team, including Head - Security at each airport.

Provide guidance on handling complex security issues and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Ensure ongoing career development and training programs for security staff at all levels.

Promote a culture of excellence in security practices.

Establish clear performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to security teams across all airports.

Technical Competencies

BI / Data Analytics Management-AAHL,Crisis and Incident Management-AAHL,Fraud / Risk Mitigation and Audit-AAHL,Intelligence and Vigilance-AAHL,Investigation and Due Diligence-AAHL,Knowledge of Emergency Safety and Health Procedures-AAHL,Security Governance-AAHL,Security Infra Planning, Design, and Integration-AAHL,Systems & Technology Management-AAHL

Qualifications and Experience

Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in preferably in Security Management, Aviation Security, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

Certifications in security and crisis management, such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Fraud Examiner ( CFE) Work Experience: 15-20 years of experience ( Depending on the site complexity/ requirement) in security operations or preferably with experience in airport security management.

In-depth knowledge of security processes and standards.

Aviation security regulations, standards, and best practices, security technologies, risk assessment methodologies, and threat analysis
