How You'll Help Us Keep Climbing (Overview & Key Responsibilities) We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to support a growing portfolio of Flight Safety data, analytics, and operational decision-support needs. The role operates across multiple products and workflows and focuses on building, maintaining, and improving high-quality, reliable data assets.
Responsible (R) for execution and technical implementation. Contributes to solution design decisions; does not own prioritization decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and enhance data pipelines that support recurring and ad hoc safety analytics needs
- Support multiple data products, workflows, and operational processes across a shared Flight Safety portfolio
- Translate evolving business, analytical, and operational needs into scalable and practical data solutions
- Monitor data quality, troubleshoot issues, and improve the reliability, consistency, and usability of data assets
- Contribute to standards, documentation, and repeatable practices for data ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery
- Support integration of new data sources, taxonomy updates, and process improvements across safety-related products and workflows
- Bring structure to loosely defined requests and shifting priorities across several workstreams
- Partner with internal stakeholders, analysts, and technical collaborators to ensure solutions are maintainable, useful, and aligned to business needs
- Support a culture of continuous improvement through disciplined engineering practices, transparency, and follow-through
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- 7 to 12 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or closely related roles.
- Expert-level SQL skills and strong experience with Python-based data processing.
- Proven experience building and owning ETL/ELT pipelines in AWS setting Amazon S3, Athena, Redshift/Teradata
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and analytics-focused data design.
