Overview

Catalyst Brands is accelerating its digital transformation and seeks a Principal Architect to lead the strategy, architecture, and evolution of its digital commerce transaction platform across Order Management, Cart, and Checkout. This role combines platform architecture, performance strategy and design, cloud-native modernization, event-driven integration, resilience, and technical leadership to build scalable, secure, and high-performance transactional systems. Reporting to the Distinguished Architect, this leader provides architectural direction across Catalyst Brands for OMS, Cart, and Checkout platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and evolve the OMS, Cart, and Checkout architecture aligned with business goals and customer experience.
- Architect cloud native, API first, microservices based, and event driven platforms for scalability, resilience, and high availability.
- Lead discovery and current-state assessment, target-state architecture, modernization, migration, and technical roadmap for OMS, Cart, and Checkout capabilities.
- Design scalable Cart architecture supporting cart lifecycle, item management, pricing, promotions, inventory availability, concurrency, persistence, caching, and recovery.
- Architect Checkout orchestration across Cart, Pricing, Promotion, Tax, Inventory, Payment, Fraud/Risk, Customer, and Order services.
- Define OMS architecture covering order capture, order lifecycle, orchestration, fulfillment, shipment, cancellation, return, refund, and completion.
- Design reliable transactional workflows using idempotency, retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, compensation, eventual consistency, reconciliation, and graceful degradation.
- Lead event-driven integration using Kafka or equivalent streaming technologies for order, cart, payment, inventory, fulfillment, and customer events.
- Mentor engineers while establishing architecture standards, reusable patterns, observability, security, performance, and technical excellence.

Success Metrics




- Measurable improvements in Cart, Checkout, and OMS scalability, reliability, latency, throughput, and customer experience.
- Strong and scalable OMS architecture and end-to-end order flow, covering order capture, order lifecycle, fulfillment, shipment, cancellation, returns, and refunds.
- Improved order processing reliability, transaction recovery, observability, and operational readiness.
- Standardized API, event, transaction, resilience, and architecture patterns drive consistency, efficiency, and resilience.

Qualifications
- Bachelor//'s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- Fifteen or more years of experience in software, cloud, or platform architecture leadership roles.
- Expertise in distributed, microservices based digital commerce systems on AWS, with strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
- Solid proficiency in OMS, Cart, Checkout, REST APIs, Kafka or equivalent streaming, Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and cloud-native platforms.
- Proven experience designing and governing high performance, high traffic customer-facing transactional platforms.
- Experience with order lifecycle management, fulfillment orchestration, payment integrations, inventory, pricing, promotions, fraud/risk, returns, refunds, and distributed transaction patterns.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, security, observability, caching, resilience engineering, event-driven architecture, disaster recovery, and cost optimization best practices.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification preferred.
