About the Role: As the Inventory Unit Head, you'll lead the inventory function and manage a 5–7 member team to drive accurate, effective and timely inventory operations.
Your mission: maintain high stock accuracy, ensure smooth procurement and distribution, strengthen inventory controls, and drive team productivity. This is a hands-on leadership role blending operational ownership, people management, process improvement and data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 5–7 inventory team members, including task allocation, productivity tracking, coaching and performance management.
- Own end-to-end inventory operations covering inward, outward, storage, transfers, returns, stock movement and distribution.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure system stock is aligned with physical stock.
- Monitor stock levels, identify shortages, excess and ageing inventory, and drive timely replenishment or corrective action.
- Plan and conduct regular physical stock counts, cycle counts and inventory audits; investigate and close inventory variances.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, Operations, vendors and other stakeholders for smooth inventory movement and timely availability of materials.
- Ensure proper documentation for GRN, dispatch, transfer, return and other inventory transactions.
- Prepare and review daily, weekly and monthly inventory MIS, productivity reports and operational dashboards.
- Drive SOP adherence, process improvements and controls to reduce inventory loss, errors and operational delays.
- Manage damaged, obsolete, slow-moving and non-moving inventory and recommend appropriate actions.
- Handle team escalations, maintain discipline and build a high-performance inventory team.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics or a related field.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in inventory, warehouse, logistics or operations, with relevant team-handling experience.
- Proven track record of handling a team of 5–7 members.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, stock reconciliation, warehouse processes and audits.
- Data-driven mindset: comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets for inventory tracking, MIS and performance reporting.
- Strong people-management, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder coordination skills with internal teams and suppliers.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with inventory management software/tools is preferred.
