Fitter and Welder

Job Summary

Fabricate, assemble, and weld metal components and structures according to blueprints, work orders, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols

Fit, align, and tack-weld parts prior to final welding

Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and/or stick (SMAW) processes

Cut, grind, and prepare materials using hand and power tools

Inspect finished welds for defects and ensure they meet specifications

Operate cutting torches, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment

Maintain equipment and follow proper safety protocols

Collaborate with engineers and supervisors on project requirements

Requirements

Proven experience as a fitter/welder (typically 2+ years)

Proficiency in MIG, TIG, or stick welding techniques

Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints

Knowledge of metal properties and welding processes

Welding certification (e.g., AWS) preferred

Solid attention to detail and manual dexterity

Physical stamina; ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions.
