An IBM Sterling OMS Software Engineer will actively participate in all phases of the project lifecycle and work closely with engineering, business, marketing, and operations teams to ensure that all support requests are addressed within defined SLAs and delivered with high quality.

We are looking for a professional with strong expertise in the IBM Sterling OMS framework , who can handle activities within the Sterling OMS ecosystem as well as develop and support custom integrations associated with IBM Sterling OMS.

Key Responsibilities

- 4–7 years of hands-on experience with IBM Sterling OMS (Order Management System) as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or Technical Support Engineer.
- In-depth experience with core Order Management modules such as DOM, GIV, SC, Platform, Payments , etc.
- Robust understanding of integration concepts including REST, SOAP, Batch, SFTP, and API Gateways .
- Provide end-to-end development solutions and technical support with quick response times.
- Strong experience in Java/Java EE, SQL, IBM DB2 , and developing Java-based extensions and interfaces.
- Provide development and technical support for Sterling Order Management across Staging, Pre-Production, Production , and other environments.
- Prioritize and provide effective solutions for tickets and incidents raised by businesses, warehouses, and other teams.
- Design and maintain detailed technical architecture documentation across a multi-brand, multi-region omnichannel environment .
- Partner with middleware, database, infrastructure,



and other technical teams to create interface documents and mappings, ensuring OMS follows a service-oriented architecture .
- Identify and enforce overall architectural principles, frameworks, and standards.
- Serve as an IBM Sterling Omnichannel and OMS Subject Matter Expert (SME) and work with customers/business stakeholders to architect best-fit solutions across multiple enterprise systems.
- Possess configuration and administration-level knowledge of IBM Sterling Order Management components, APIs, related interfaces, and configurations.
- Experience in Distribution or Retail solution design is highly desirable.
- Apply knowledge of project management, Agile methodologies, and continuous improvement principles.
- Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and report system issues to the development team for resolution based on business impact.
- Monitor order flows and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Create reports based on business requirements using automated PL/SQL procedures .
- Proactively monitor inventory activities and data synchronization between different systems.
- Provide technical and functional expertise to drive issue resolution.
- Drive automation and coordinate technical bridges during critical production issues.
- Provide hands-on debugging, defect analysis, and troubleshooting to resolve recurring issues.
- Support production issues during 24x7 operations, peak sales periods, and critical business events as required.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Sterling Commerce / Sterling OMS and its customizations.
- Good command of:
- XPath
- Web Console
- Sterling APIs
- XML
- JSON
- SQL queries and scripts
- Strong understanding of Incident Management,



Problem Management, and Change Management .
- Hands-on experience in debugging, defect analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent technical and functional problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workplace and manage multiple priorities.
- Flexibility to work across different programming languages, technologies, and frameworks.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment .
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Prior experience in eCommerce and Retail domains is an added advantage.
- Ability to provide production support during critical business periods and on an as-needed basis.

- Bachelor's degree in software engineering , Computer Science, Information Technology , or equivalent discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in Java and IBM Sterling OMS .
- Overall, 4–7 years of relevant experience in IBM Sterling OMS development, engineering, or technical support.
- Strong hands-on experience with Sterling OMS customization, integration, development, and production support.
