We are looking for an experienced IBM MQ Engineer to manage, support, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise messaging infrastructure. The role involves administration of Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Listeners, Clusters, Security, and MQ integrations, along with production support and performance monitoring. IBM MQ uses queue managers as the core messaging components and channels to provide communication between queue managers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM MQ environments.

Manage Queue Managers, Local/Remote/Transmission/Dead Letter Queues, Topics, Channels, Listeners, and Services.

Create, modify, delete, start, and stop MQ objects using MQSC commands and MQ Explorer.

Configure and troubleshoot Sender, Receiver, Server-Connection, Client-Connection, and Cluster channels.

Monitor queue depth, channel status, message flow, and overall MQ health.

Troubleshoot message delivery failures, stuck messages, channel failures, and connectivity issues.

Perform queue manager start/stop, backup, recovery, and maintenance activities.

Configure and support MQ Clustering, workload balancing, and high-availability environments.

Manage MQ security, user permissions, authorities, and access controls using appropriate MQ security mechanisms.

Support TLS/SSL certificate configuration and secure MQ communications.

Analyze MQ logs, error codes, dumps, traces, and system alerts to identify root causes.

Perform performance monitoring and capacity management for MQ infrastructure.

Support application teams with MQ connectivity, queue configuration,



and message-flow issues.

Coordinate with infrastructure, network, application, security, and database teams for issue resolution.

Handle L2/L3 production incidents, service requests, changes, and problem management activities.

Perform root-cause analysis and prepare incident/problem reports.

Automate routine administration and monitoring activities using Shell/PowerShell scripting where applicable.

Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.

Participate in upgrades, migrations, patching, disaster-recovery testing, and environment refresh activities.

Required Technical Skills Solid hands-on experience with IBM MQ / WebSphere MQ.

Experience with IBM MQ 8.x/9.x/10.x.

Strong knowledge of Queue Managers and MQ objects.

Hands-on experience with MQSC commands and runmqsc.

Good understanding of MQ channels and listeners.

Experience troubleshooting Sender/Receiver and SVRCONN/CLNTCONN channels.

Knowledge of MQ Clustering and distributed queuing.

Experience with MQ security and setmqaut.

Knowledge of TLS/SSL certificates and secure channels.

Good understanding of TCP/IP networking and connectivity troubleshooting.

Experience with Linux/Unix and/or Windows administration.

Knowledge of MQ logs, monitoring, tracing, and problem determination.

Basic scripting knowledge in Shell/PowerShell.

IBM MQ administration includes managing queue managers and objects, channels, clusters, authorities, and related configuration through MQSC, PCF, command-line tools, and MQ Explorer.
