Sify Infinit Spaces Limited was created as a subsidiary to house all investments into the Data Center space, specifically colocation. As on date, Sify has 12 Data Center locations spread across India and offers approximately 200MW of IT power to the market with 2 more to be ready by the end of the year. The latest iteration of our Data Centers is AI ready, liquid cooled certified for GPX ready workloads.

About the Role :
HVAC SME (Design)
Role Objective:
The HVAC Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Data Centers shall own DC Cooling aspects - optimization, operation, and reliability of mission-critical cooling and mechanical systems supporting data center environments. This role ensures high availability, energy efficiency, compliance with industry standards, and continuous improvement of HVAC systems that support IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the HVAC Single point coordinator for data center cooling systems, including CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, and liquid cooling solutions
- Provide expert guidance on HVAC system architecture for Tier IIV data centers
- Own day in Day out of HVAC activities
DC Engineering - as per customer and organization requirement
- Review and approve HVAC designs, layouts, and calculations (CFD, heat load, airflow)
- Collaborate with electrical, IT, and facilities teams to align cooling with power and rack density requirements
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, local codes, and sustainability standards
Operations & Reliability
- Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for HVAC-related incidents and outages
- Support commissioning, retro-commissioning, and performance testing
Energy Efficiency & Optimization
- Drive improvements in PUE, WUE, and overall energy efficiency
- Evaluate and implement advanced cooling technologies (free cooling, liquid cooling, AI-driven controls)
- Monitor system performance using BMS/DCIM tools and analytics
- Own ISO 50 k
Vendor & Project Management
- Evaluate vendors, equipment, and service providers
- Support CAPEX/OPEX planning and cost optimization
- Provide technical oversight during construction, upgrades, and expansions
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Develop standards, SOPs, and best practices for HVAC systems
- Train operations and engineering teams
- Provide technical input for audits and certifications
Required Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of data center cooling technologies and redundancy models
- Strong understanding of ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidelines and Uptime Institute standards
Diploma in Mechnical Engineering 8-9 years of experience OR Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10-11 years of HVAC experience, with significant focus on data centers or mission-critical facilities If the above chance interests you, please share your updated profile and the following details for further discussion.
