HR Manager Employee Relations (ER) & Industrial Relations (IR)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager with solid expertise in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, dispute management, labour welfare, trade union management, and employee engagement. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive employee environment, managing union relationships, resolving workplace disputes, and ensuring compliance with applicable labour laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Employee Relations (ER)

- Manage day-to-day employee relations and address employee grievances effectively.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, supervisors, and management.
- Handle employee complaints, disciplinary matters, counselling, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct employee engagement and communication initiatives.
- Ensure fair and consistent implementation of HR policies and procedures.

1. Industrial Relations (IR)

- Manage industrial relations activities at the plant/site level.
- Maintain healthy relationships between management, employees, and worker representatives.
- Monitor and address IR issues proactively to maintain a peaceful work environment.
- Support management during negotiations, settlements, and other IR-related discussions.
- Prepare reports and provide management with updates on IR matters and potential risks.

1. Dispute & Grievance Management

- Handle employee and workmen disputes, grievances, misconduct cases, and disciplinary proceedings.
- Investigate complaints and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Manage domestic enquiries and disciplinary processes in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Identify potential disputes at an early stage and take preventive measures.
- Coordinate with management and legal teams on labour-related disputes and cases.

1. Trade Union & Union Management





- Establish and maintain effective relationships with trade unions and employee representatives.
- Handle union-related discussions, negotiations, demands, and grievances.
- Participate in wage settlements, charter of demands, and other collective bargaining activities.
- Monitor union activities and ensure constructive communication between management and unions.
- Support management in maintaining industrial peace and preventing unnecessary conflicts.

1. Labour Welfare

- Ensure effective implementation of statutory and non-statutory labour welfare initiatives.
- Monitor employee welfare facilities such as canteen, transport, medical facilities, sanitation, safety, and other welfare amenities.
- Conduct regular welfare inspections and address employee/workmen concerns.
- Coordinate welfare activities, employee events, and engagement programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour welfare requirements.

1. Labour Law & Statutory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, rules, regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and labour department matters.
- Maintain required labour registers, records, notices, and documentation.
- Work closely with compliance/legal teams to mitigate labour-law risks.
- Keep management updated on changes in labour legislation affecting the organization.

1. Employee Engagement & Communication

- Conduct regular employee/workmen interactions and feedback sessions.
- Develop initiatives to improve employee morale, engagement, and retention.




- Promote transparent communication between employees, unions, and management.
- Identify employee concerns and implement appropriate corrective actions.

Key Skills Required
- Strong ER & IR management skills
- Excellent trade union and union negotiation skills
- Strong dispute and grievance management experience
- Knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance
- Experience in collective bargaining and wage negotiations
- Solid communication and negotiation skills
- Conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities
- Experience handling disciplinary proceedings and domestic enquiries
- Strong employee engagement and labour welfare knowledge
- Ability to work effectively in a plant/manufacturing environment

Educational Qualification
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources / Personnel Management
- MSW / MA in HR or Labour Relations may also be considered.

Preferred Experience
- Experience in manufacturing/plant HR
- Hands-on experience in unionized workforces
- Experience handling trade unions, labour disputes, settlements, grievances, and disciplinary matters
- Good exposure to labour department interactions and statutory inspections

Preferred candidate profile Relevant Experience of (8yrs -10 yrs )

MBA /PGDM in HR

MSW in HR

Experience

8-12 years of relevant HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing/plant environment
