1. JOB PURPOSE

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and housekeeping services throughout the hospital and its premises. The Supervisor will independently manage housekeeping staff, ensure adequate manpower and supplies, maintain linen, and ensure that all housekeeping activities comply with NABH standards, infection-control protocols, Biomedical Waste Management requirements and hospital SOPs.

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Hospital Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Ensure cleanliness of the entire hospital and all areas within the hospital premises.
- Supervise cleaning of wards, patient rooms, ICU, OT areas, OPD, corridors, staircases, toilets, waiting areas, offices, stores and other hospital areas.
- Ensure prescribed cleaning and disinfection schedules are followed.
- Conduct regular rounds and immediately rectify cleanliness deficiencies.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection, particularly in patient-care and high-risk areas.
- Coordinate with the Infection Control team wherever required.
- Ensure the hospital entrance, passages, parking areas, surroundings and other areas under hospital responsibility are clean and well maintained.

B. NABH & Infection Control Compliance
- Ensure that all housekeeping activities comply with NABH requirements and hospital SOPs.
- Strictly follow infection prevention and control practices for cleaning, disinfection and spill management.
- Ensure housekeeping staff are properly trained in cleaning procedures, PPE, infection control and safe working practices.
- Maintain housekeeping checklists, cleaning schedules, inspection records and other documentation required for NABH compliance.
- Identify and immediately correct any deviation from prescribed housekeeping or infection-control practices.

C. Biomedical Waste Management
- Ensure proper segregation, collection, handling and internal transportation of Biomedical Waste (BMW) as per hospital protocols and applicable statutory requirements.
- Ensure correct use of colour-coded BMW bins/bags.




- Ensure biomedical waste is never mixed, incorrectly segregated or left unattended.
- Ensure housekeeping staff are trained in BMW segregation, PPE, sharps handling and spill management.
- Conduct regular checks for incorrect segregation and take immediate corrective action.
- Immediately report any BMW violation, sharps injury, spill or other safety incident to the Facility Manager / Infection Control team.
- Ensure all BMW-related records and checklists are properly maintained.

D. Housekeeping Staff Management
- Supervise, allocate and monitor housekeeping staff on a daily basis.
- Ensure adequate manpower deployment across all shifts and hospital areas.
- Anticipate staff shortages due to leave, absenteeism, holidays or increased workload and arrange replacements in advance.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, grooming, discipline and work performance.
- Train and guide housekeeping staff regarding hospital cleaning, infection control, BMW management, PPE and safety procedures.
- Address staff performance issues and report persistent disciplinary or performance concerns to the Facility Manager.

E. Linen Management
- Manage collection, segregation, counting, storage, distribution and movement of hospital linen.
- Ensure adequate clean linen is available in wards, ICU, OT and other departments.
- Monitor linen shortages, damage, loss and replacement requirements.
- Maintain proper linen inventory and movement records.
- Coordinate with the laundry / laundry vendor.
- Ensure clean and soiled linen are appropriately handled, transported and stored.

F. Housekeeping Supplies & Equipment
- Monitor availability of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, mops, PPE, garbage bags and other housekeeping consumables.
- Anticipate shortages and raise indents/requirements in advance.
- Ensure proper storage and controlled use of chemicals and supplies.




- Monitor housekeeping equipment and report repair or replacement requirements.
- Prevent disruption of housekeeping services due to shortage of essential materials.

G. Waste, Spill & Environmental Management
- Ensure proper collection and movement of waste as per hospital protocols.
- Ensure immediate and appropriate response to blood/body-fluid spills and other contamination incidents.
- Report water leakage, foul odour, pest infestation, drainage problems or other environmental concerns immediately.
- Coordinate pest-control, deep-cleaning and other specialized housekeeping services when required.

H. General Housekeeping Services
- Coordinate all routine housekeeping requirements of the hospital.
- Respond promptly to housekeeping complaints from patients, relatives and hospital departments.
- Ensure cleanliness and readiness of rooms and areas before and after patient use.
- Coordinate special cleaning requirements during procedures, emergencies, renovations or other hospital activities.

1. RESPONSIBILITY & ACCOUNTABILITY

The Housekeeping Supervisor is expected to:
- Take complete ownership of hospital cleanliness and housekeeping operations.
- Be proactive and identify problems before they are reported by others.
- Maintain adequate manpower, linen, equipment and housekeeping supplies at all times.
- Ensure staff are properly deployed, trained and working efficiently.
- Maintain discipline and accountability within the housekeeping team.
- Immediately escalate issues affecting patient safety, infection control, hygiene or hospital operations.
- Ensure all housekeeping activities are NABH-compliant and properly documented.
- Take corrective action immediately rather than waiting for instructions.

1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 12th Pass; Graduate preferred.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in hospital housekeeping supervision preferred.
- Experience in a hospital / healthcare facility is desirable.
- Knowledge of NABH, infection control and Biomedical Waste Management will be preferred.
- Positive communication, staff-management and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work in shifts and attend to operational requirements when necessary.

Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
