About the Company
Our client is a top leading automotive component manufacturer with a solid presence across India and multiple manufacturing facilities catering to leading automotive OEMs.
The organization is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Head Business Quality to lead and drive the overall quality function across its PAN India manufacturing operations.
Role Overview The Head Business Quality will be responsible for establishing and driving the overall business quality strategy across 56 manufacturing plants in India, ensuring consistent quality standards, customer satisfaction, process excellence, and compliance across all locations.
The role will have significant customer-facing responsibility and will act as the senior quality interface with key automotive OEM customers, addressing quality concerns, escalations, corrective actions, and long-term quality improvement initiatives.
The incumbent will work closely with Plant Heads, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, Supplier Quality, and Corporate Leadership to build a strong culture of zero-defect manufacturing and customer excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. PAN India Quality Leadership
- Lead the overall Business Quality function across 56 manufacturing plants located across India.
- Establish common quality systems, processes, standards, and KPIs across all plants.
- Drive consistency in quality performance and ensure effective implementation of corporate quality policies.
- Monitor plant-wise quality performance and identify areas requiring immediate intervention.
- Develop and implement strategic quality improvement initiatives across the organization.
2. Customer Quality Management
- Act as the senior quality interface with major automotive OEM customers.
- Manage customer quality escalations, complaints, audits, and performance reviews.
- Lead resolution of critical customer complaints and ensure timely containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Build strong relationships with customer quality teams and ensure sustained customer satisfaction.
- Monitor customer-specific quality requirements and ensure effective deployment across plants.
- Drive reduction in customer complaints, PPM, rejection, warranty issues, and other quality-related performance indicators.

Manufacturing Process Quality The role will oversee quality across diverse automotive manufacturing processes, including:
- Heavy Fabrication
- Welding
- Stamping
- Trimming
- Sheet metal and fabricated components
- Assembly and related manufacturing processes
- In-process and final inspection
- Supply and dispatch quality
Ensure robust quality controls are implemented throughout the manufacturing and supply chain process. 4. Quality Systems & Process Excellence
- Strengthen and continuously improve the organization's Quality Management System.
- Ensure adherence to applicable IATF 16949, ISO and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Drive implementation of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, 8D and other automotive quality tools.
- Establish robust systems for defect prevention rather than defect detection.
- Drive standardization of quality processes and best practices across plants.
5. Quality Improvement & Cost Reduction
- Drive initiatives for reduction in:
- Customer PPM
- Internal rejection
- Rework
- Scrap
- Warranty/field failures
- Customer complaints
- Identify recurring quality issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to improve process capability and product quality.
6. Quality Audits & Compliance
- Lead customer, system, process, and product audit preparedness across all plants.
- Ensure timely closure of audit findings and implementation of corrective actions.
- Establish effective internal audit mechanisms across manufacturing locations.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific standards and statutory/regulatory requirements.
7. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor the quality leadership teams across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Develop a high-performance quality organization with clear accountability and measurable KPIs.
- Build quality capability through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Establish succession planning and talent development within the Quality function.
Key Performance Indicators The incumbent will be accountable for measurable improvement in:
- Customer PPM
- Customer complaints and escalations
- Internal rejection and rework
- Scrap and quality-related cost
- Warranty / field quality performance
- Customer audit ratings
- Internal audit compliance
- 8D closure effectiveness and timelines
- Process capability and defect prevention
- Plant-wise quality performance
- Overall customer satisfaction
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 18 years of overall experience in Quality, preferably within the automotive / auto components manufacturing industry.
- Strong experience in Business Quality / Customer Quality / Plant Quality leadership.
- Proven experience managing quality across multiple manufacturing plants.
- Experience in managing 5–6 or more plants / locations will be preferred.
- Strong exposure to automotive manufacturing processes such as heavy fabrication, welding, stamping,trimming, sheet metal fabrication and assembly.
- Strong experience in dealing directly with automotive OEM customers and managing customer quality
escalations.
- Should have handled senior-level customer interactions, audits, quality reviews, and business quality requirements.
- Strong understanding of automotive quality systems and methodologies including IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP,FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plan and 8D.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing quality, process controls, defect prevention, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to travel extensively across manufacturing locations and customer sites as required.
Educational Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Engineering – preferably Mechanical / Production / Automobile / Industrial Engineering.
A Postgraduate qualification in Quality / Operations / Management will be an added advantage.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate would be a senior automotive quality professional who has progressed through Plant Quality /
Customer Quality / Business Quality leadership roles and has successfully managed quality operations across multiple manufacturing facilities.
The candidate should be comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, with the ability to engage with OEM customers, plant leadership, senior management, and cross-functional teams.
This is a high-impact PAN India leadership position with direct responsibility for business quality and customer satisfaction across multiple manufacturing operations.
