Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited (VISL) is evolving into a future-ready green steel and specialty steel company, anchored in raw material security, integrated operations, and expansion potential to support India’s industrial growth. It is a leading, fully integrated iron and steel enterprise, anchored in a robust value chain encompassing resource security and value-added production. The company’s operations span iron ore exploration, mining, and processing across India and West Africa, complemented by a diversified product portfolio that includes high-quality steel, wire rods, TMT bars, pig iron, ductile iron (DI) pipes, ferro-silicon, cement, and metallurgical coke.

From steelmaking capacity of 40 lakh tonnes per annum (Goa and Bokaro), we will scale to 100 lakh tonnes per annum as we can leverage the availability of gas at our doorstep. We have the backing of high-quality and best captive iron ore mines in Goa, Odisha and Karnataka that will help us scale to 100 lakh tonnes per annum and then 150 lakh tonnes per annum.

We are seeking a dynamic and insightful individual to join us as a Head Commodity Buying- VISL , to drive its momentum forward and deliver on our business goals.

Key Responsibilities





- Aligning procurement strategies with overall business objectives and growth plans, thereby ensuring uninterrupted plant operations, maximum value creation, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure 100% adherence to cardinal sourcing principles with zero tolerance for governance or compliance deviations.
- Develop comprehensive business plans and track performance rigorously on a monthly basis.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through peer benchmarking, adoption of global best practices, optimizing GWC, reducing logistics costs, controlling leakages, and strengthening quality controls.
- Guarantee timely, cost-effective delivery of raw materials with uncompromising focus on quality standards.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Deploy advanced digital tools and technologies to ensure transparency, traceability, and improved operational performance.
- Build and nurture strategic partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to foster long-term collaboration and trust.
- Champion innovation and embed a culture of continuous improvement across all commercial and procurement activities.

Candidate Profile

- B. E/ B.Tech with MBA and 14+ years of relevant experience.
