About the Role

We are looking for an experienced GG Instructor to deliver high-quality theoretical and practical gemological education to students and professionals.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in diamond and coloured stone identification, grading, treatments and gemological testing, along with proven experience in teaching or training. The candidate should be able to simplify complex technical concepts and deliver engaging classroom as well as hands-on practical sessions.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct theoretical and practical training for Graduate Gemologist (GG) programs.

Deliver training on diamond grading, coloured stones, gem identification, treatments and grading standards.

Conduct hands-on practical sessions and demonstrations using gemological instruments.

Guide students in gemstone identification, testing and grading techniques.

Evaluate students through assignments, practical assessments, examinations and projects.

Develop and update training presentations, course material, practical exercises and assessments.

Monitor student attendance, performance and assessment records.

Provide mentoring and constructive feedback to students.

Ensure training delivery is aligned with IGI's curriculum, academic standards and methodologies.

Conduct workshops, seminars and industry-oriented training sessions as required.

Stay updated with developments in gemology, gemstone treatments, grading practices and industry trends.

Maintain professional standards of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality while handling gemstones and jewellery.

Required Skills & Competencies





Strong knowledge of diamond identification and grading.

Strong knowledge of coloured gemstone identification and grading.

Excellent practical knowledge of gemological instruments and testing methods.

Strong understanding of gemstone treatments, synthetics and imitations.

Excellent English communication and presentation skills.

Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a simple and engaging manner.

Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.

Excellent observation and analytical abilities.

Passion for teaching, mentoring and developing future gemologists.

Bangalore – Additional Requirement

Fluency in English and Kannada is mandatory.

Candidate should be comfortable conducting both theoretical and practical training in Kannada where required.

Qualification

Graduate Gemologist (GG), Diploma or Degree in Gemology from a recognized institution.

Relevant skilled certification in gemology will be an advantage.

10+ years of relevant experience in gemology, gemological laboratories, jewellery industry or gemological education/training.

Prior experience as a Gemology Instructor, Trainer, Faculty Member or Gemological Educator will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

10+ years of hands-on experience in gemology or gemological education.

Proven experience in training students or working professionals.

Strong practical exposure to diamonds, coloured gemstones and gemological testing.

Candidates who can independently conduct both classroom and practical sessions will be preferred.

Candidates with strong professional communication and presentation skills are preferred.

For Bangalore, English + Kannada proficiency is mandatory.
