Company Description Ecomine is a DPIIT-recognized deep-tech startup focused on transforming mineral exploration in India through advanced AI and machine learning. Its flagship platform, Spectropy, combines hyperspectral satellite imagery, drill-core analysis, and multiple geophysical datasets into a unified subsurface intelligence layer.

Using spectral unmixing, geophysical inversion, and terrain-specific deep-learning models, Spectropy generates high-confidence mineral prospectivity maps from surface to drill bit. By replacing fragmented, siloed workflows with data-driven, physics-informed insights, Ecomine helps geoscientists identify optimal drill locations and improve exploration efficiency. The team works at the intersection of geoscience and AI, offering opportunities to solve complex, real-world exploration challenges.

Role Description This full-time remote Geoscience Data Scientist role focuses on building and improving data-driven models for mineral exploration.

Responsibilities include cleaning, integrating, and analyzing geoscience datasets such as hyperspectral imagery, drill-core measurements, and geophysical surveys, as well as developing predictive and inferential models that support subsurface mapping and prospectivity analysis. The role involves designing and validating statistical and machine learning workflows,

collaborating with geologists and domain experts to translate scientific requirements into robust data solutions, and creating clear visualizations and reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Day-to-day tasks also include experimenting with new algorithms, optimizing model performance for Indian terrains, documenting methodologies, and contributing to Ecomine’s platform features and data pipelines.

Qualifications

- Solid foundation in Data Science and Statistics, with the ability to design, train, and validate predictive and inferential models.
- Proficiency in Data Analytics and Data Analysis for extracting insights from complex, multi-source geoscience datasets.
- Experience in Data Visualization to communicate findings clearly through dashboards, plots, and interactive tools.
- Hands-on experience with Python or R, including common data and ML libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow).
- Background in geoscience, geophysics, remote sensing, or a related field, or demonstrated ability to work closely with geoscientists.
- Familiarity with handling large spatial datasets, GIS tools, and basic geospatial analysis.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Geoscience, or an equivalent quantitative discipline.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, collaborate in interdisciplinary teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
