General Manager – Operations

Role Overview
We are looking for a senior, execution-driven manufacturing leader to take end-to-end ownership of manufacturing operations for our Heavy Engineering Division.
The role is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery, manufacturing productivity, quality, cost control, capacity utilization and operational discipline across multiple concurrent engineered-to-order projects.
The ideal candidate must be equally comfortable with strategic planning, cross-functional coordination and shop-floor execution and should have a proven track record of improving manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing & Operations
- Lead overall manufacturing operations & drive production against committed project schedules and dispatch milestones.
- Optimize manpower, equipment, bays, cranes, welding resources and manufacturing capacity.
- Establish strong daily, weekly and monthly production monitoring systems.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks affecting throughput and delivery.
2. Project Execution
- Take ownership of manufacturing deliverables across multiple projects.
- Coordinate closely with Design, Projects, Procurement, SCM, QA/QC and Dispatch .
- Ensure production priorities remain aligned with project and customer commitments.
3. Productivity & Manufacturing Excellence
- Drive measurable improvement in labour productivity, welding productivity, machine utilization and capacity utilization .
- Reduce rework, idle time, waiting time, bottlenecks and non-value-added activities.
- Establish clear KPIs and accountability across manufacturing functions.
- Implement lean, visual-management and structured problem-solving practices wherever relevant.
4. Quality & Technical Compliance
- Ensure manufacturing complies with applicable ASME, API, ASTM, client specifications and project requirements .
- Work closely with QA/QC to minimize NCRs,
rework and inspection delays.
- Ensure effective control of welding, NDE, PWHT, dimensional inspection, material traceability and documentation.
- Drive a robust Right First Time culture.
5. Cost & Commercial Performance
- Control manufacturing cost against approved project budgets.
- Monitor labour hours, consumables, subcontracting, material utilization and rework.
- Identify and address cost overruns at an early stage.
- Work with Estimation / Commercial teams to establish realistic manufacturing cost and productivity benchmarks.
6. Capacity & Resource Planning
- Match manufacturing capacity with the business/project pipeline.
- Plan manpower, equipment, facilities and subcontracting requirements.
- Identify capacity constraints and recommend appropriate corrective actions or investments.
- Optimize the balance between in-house and outsourced manufacturing.
7. Leadership
- Lead and develop the manufacturing leadership and shop-floor teams.
- Establish clear ownership, accountability and performance standards.
- Build a disciplined, high-performance manufacturing culture.
- Strengthen capabilities across Production, Planning, Welding, Methods and Manufacturing Engineering.

Candidate Profile
Experience
- 18–25+ years of overall experience ,
with significant experience in manufacturing / operations leadership.
- Proven experience managing Heat Exchangers, Process Skids & Piping Equipment.
- Experience with complex fabrication and project-based manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, NDE, PWHT, dimensional control and inspection .
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and manufacturing resources.
- Proven track record of improving delivery, productivity, quality and cost performance .
Preferred Industry Exposure Heavy Engineering | Oil & Gas | Energy | Process & Industrial Equipment | EPC / Project Manufacturing
Experience in engineered-to-order, complex fabrication and project-driven manufacturing environments will be highly preferred.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
Postgraduate qualification in Operations / Manufacturing / Management will be an advantage.
