Job Summary The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and profitability of the food production facility. The role oversees production, quality assurance, food safety, engineering, supply chain, warehousing, procurement, finance, and human resources to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and sustainable business growth. The GM drives strategic initiatives, optimizes plant performance, and ensures production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all manufacturing and production activities.
- Ensure production plans are achieved according to quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Monitor plant utilization, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
- Develop annual operational and business plans.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for all departments.
- Implement strategies to improve profitability and productivity.
- Support expansion projects, recent product launches, and capacity enhancement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, BRC, and relevant food safety standards.
- Lead quality assurance and food safety programs.
- Maintain customer and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ensure audit readiness and successful certification maintenance.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets.
- Monitor production costs, labour costs, and operational expenses.
- Drive cost-saving and waste-reduction initiatives.
- Review profitability and financial performance of the facility.
- Oversee procurement of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of production resources.
- Monitor inventory, warehousing, and logistics operations.
- Develop strategic relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Lead production, quality, maintenance, warehouse, and support functions.
- Develop leadership capability within the organization.
- Drive employee engagement, training, and performance management.
- Foster a high-performance and safety-focused work culture.
- Ensure optimum plant and equipment performance.
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Lead capital expenditure projects and facility upgrades.
- Minimize downtime and maximize equipment efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and labour regulations.
- Implement workplace health and safety policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
- Maintain legal licenses and certifications.
- Coordinate with key customers and business partners.
- Drive service excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Handle escalations related to quality, delivery, and operations.
- Represent the organization during audits and business reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business Administration.
- MBA or Postgraduate qualification preferred.
- HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma certification is an advantage
Experience
- 12–18 years of experience in food manufacturing or food processing industries.
- Minimum 5–8 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale operations.
- Experience in FMCG, Ready-to-Eat Foods, Bakery, Dairy, Frozen Foods, Central Kitchen, Nutraceuticals, or Beverage Manufacturing preferred.
Pay: ₹1,500,000.00 - ₹1,800,000.00 per year
