Role & responsibilities
- Plan and execute internal, financial, operational, and project audits across infrastructure projects and corporate functions.
- Review project accounts, financial statements, budgets, cost reports, cash flows, and supporting documentation.
- Assess the effectiveness of financial controls, processes, systems, and governance mechanisms.
- Conduct audits of Highway and Airport projects, including review of project costs, contracts, billing, procurement, subcontracting, and commercial transactions.
- Identify financial, operational, compliance, and process-related risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Review compliance with applicable Indian accounting standards, statutory requirements, internal policies, and contractual obligations.
- Analyse project financial performance, cost overruns, variations, claims, receivables, payables, and other key financial indicators.
- Review procurement and vendor/subcontractor transactions for compliance, transparency, and financial prudence.
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports, observations, findings, risk assessments, and management recommendations.
- Ensure audit reports and management communications are accurate, concise, professionally structured, and appropriately edited.
- Present audit findings and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and closure of identified observations.
- Coordinate with Finance, Commercial, Project, Procurement, Contracts, and other functional teams during audits.
- Support management in strengthening internal controls, financial governance, and risk-management practices.
- Lead and mentor junior audit professionals, where applicable.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Solid knowledge of financial accounting, auditing, financial controls, and project finance.
- Relevant experience in Highways, Airports projects is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent report-writing, documentation, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to interpret financial data and identify anomalies, risks, and control weaknesses.
- Strong understanding of project cost management, contracts, procurement, and commercial processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple audits and work with senior management.
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, and professional judgement.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with ERP systems will be an advantage.
