Senior Full Stack Software Engineer – Backend Focus

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with strong backend expertise to design, build and operate scalable, reliable and high-performance software systems. This is a backend-heavy full-stack role. While frontend experience is required, our priority is candidates who have demonstrated strong hands-on experience building large, complex and production-grade backend systems.

You should be comfortable working on systems involving significant data volumes, complex business logic, multiple services, third-party integrations, database performance challenges and production reliability.

We are particularly interested in engineers who have progressed beyond developing individual features and have experience owning services and systems end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring and production support.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js and NestJS
- A proven track record of developing and maintaining large-scale, complex backend systems
- Robust understanding of backend architecture, microservices, service boundaries and inter-service communication
- Experience designing and building secure, scalable REST APIs
- Strong experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Experience with database schema design, migrations, query optimization, indexing and performance troubleshooting
- Strong ORM experience, preferably Prisma
- Practical experience with AWS and cloud-based application development
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD and GitHub Actions
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting applications in production
- Good understanding of observability, logging, monitoring and performance analysis
- Working experience with Vue 2 and/or Vue 3 and TypeScript for frontend development

Key Responsibilities

Backend Engineering & Architecture

* Design, develop, review, deploy and support production backend services using TypeScript, Node.js and NestJS.

- Design scalable and maintainable backend architectures for complex business requirements.
- Define service boundaries and implement appropriate microservice and inter-service communication patterns.
- Build robust, secure and well-documented REST APIs.
- Implement authentication, authorization, validation, error handling and API versioning.
- Work with monorepos,



shared libraries and modular application architectures.

Database & Performance

* Design database schemas and migrations for production applications.
- Work extensively with MySQL, PostgreSQL and/or Redshift.
- Optimize queries, indexes and data-access patterns.
- Diagnose database and application performance issues using profiling and execution plans.
- Ensure systems remain reliable and performant as transaction volumes and data scale.

Full Stack Development

* Develop clean, maintainable and reusable frontend components using Vue 2/Vue 3 and TypeScript.

- Collaborate across the stack while maintaining a clear focus on backend quality and system architecture.
- Integrate frontend applications with internal and external APIs.

Cloud, DevOps & Production

* Work with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda and CloudWatch.

- Build and maintain Docker-based deployments.
- Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Implement quality gates and automated code-quality practices.
- Participate in production troubleshooting, incident resolution and root-cause analysis.
- Use observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Jaeger and Sentry to identify reliability and performance issues.
- Follow disciplined practices for database migrations, releases, rollback and production changes.

Engineering Quality

* Develop comprehensive automated tests using Jest, Supertest and appropriate database mocking techniques.

- Participate actively in code reviews and architectural discussions.
- Work effectively with legacy systems and progressively reduce technical debt.
- Translate product requirements into sound technical designs and deliver them through Agile development practices.

Required Qualifications

* 5–15 years of professional software engineering experience.

- At least 5 years of substantial hands-on experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Strong production experience with NestJS.
- Demonstrated experience building large-scale or complex backend systems.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture and scalable system design.
- Strong REST API development and API design experience.




- Strong experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL and/or Redshift.
- At least 4 years of relational database experience, including schema design and performance optimization.
- Strong experience with Prisma or a comparable ORM.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD, particularly GitHub Actions.
- Hands-on experience with Vue 2 and/or Vue 3.
- Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently own technical problems and deliver production-ready solutions.

Strongly Preferred

* Experience working on high-scale, distributed or mission-critical systems.

- Experience handling complex workflows, high data volumes or high-throughput APIs.
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience with Redshift, Databricks or other analytical data platforms.
- Experience integrating with multiple external APIs or third-party platforms.
- Experience with GraphQL as a client.
- AdTech or related domain experience involving campaigns, advertisers, performance metrics, reporting or attribution.

Important Note

This is not a frontend-led Full Stack role. Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on frontend development, with limited experience designing and building complex backend systems, are unlikely to be a good fit.

Our priority is strong backend engineers who can also contribute effectively across the frontend when required.

Backend expertise and experience with larger, more complex production systems will carry significantly more weight than breadth of frontend frameworks.
