Frontend Engineering - Assistant Manager

Role Purpose

Support engineering leadership in planning, designing, developing, and delivering modern web applications. The role combines hands-on React.js and JavaScript development, Node.js integration, frontend architecture, team guidance, engineering quality, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver secure, responsive, accessible, and maintainable user experiences.

Required Skills

 React.js: Hands-on expertise in component-based application development, hooks, state management, routing, reusable UI patterns, and frontend performance optimization.

 JavaScript: Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript, asynchronous programming, modules, browser APIs, error handling, and clean coding practices.

 Node.js: Working experience with Node.js for frontend tooling, build processes, API integration, backend-for-frontend services, and server-side support where applicable.

 Frontend architecture: Ability to design scalable application structures, reusable components, shared libraries, design- system integration, and maintainable coding standards.

 HTML and CSS: Strong knowledge of semantic HTML, responsive layouts, cross-browser compatibility, modern CSS, and accessible UI development.

 API integration: Experience integrating REST APIs, handling authentication, validation, error states, data transformation, and resilient user interactions.

 State and data management: Experience with appropriate client-side state, server-state, caching, and data-fetching approaches.

 Testing and quality: Working knowledge of component, unit, integration, and end-to-end testing approaches for web applications.

 CI/CD and engineering tooling: Experience with package management, linting, formatting, build tooling, source control, pull requests,



and automated delivery pipelines.

 Security and performance: Understanding of secure frontend development, dependency management, browser security, performance profiling, and optimization.

 Leadership and collaboration: Ability to guide engineers, review code and designs, coordinate delivery, communicate risks, and collaborate with product, UX, QA, backend, DevOps, and stakeholders.

 Engineering governance: Solid analytical, problem-solving, documentation, estimation, technical decision-making, and continuous improvement skills.

Required Qualifications

 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

 Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a Technical Lead or Assistant Manager capacity.

 Demonstrated experience in hands-on React.js and JavaScript development, frontend solution design, code review, troubleshooting, and delivery oversight.

 Practical experience working in Agile delivery environments and CI/CD-enabled development teams.

 Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions, risks, and progress clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

 Experience with TypeScript, modern build tools, component libraries, and design systems.

 Exposure to cloud-hosted web applications, containerized delivery, monitoring, and observability.





 Knowledge of accessibility standards, web performance measures, micro-frontend patterns, and server-side rendering.

Daily

 Develop, debug, test, and maintain responsive React.js and JavaScript web features.

 Build reusable components and integrate APIs, Node.js services, and tooling.

 Review code, PRs, checks, dependencies, and deliverables for quality and maintainability.

 Troubleshoot UI, API, performance, build, browser, and environment issues with teams.

 Guide engineers on architecture, standards, component design, accessibility, and debugging.

 Join Agile ceremonies and share progress, blockers, risks, and dependencies.

Weekly

 Prioritize frontend work by sprint scope, UX needs, release risk, and capacity.

 Review progress, designs, component structures, API contracts, and deployment readiness.

 Assess performance, accessibility, browser behavior, code quality, test coverage, and debt.

 Coordinate with product, UX, backend, QA, DevOps, and stakeholders on requirements.

 Support task allocation, workload balance, mentoring, and progress tracking.

 Drive RCA and corrective actions for recurring defects, performance issues, or build failures.

Monthly

 Publish engineering status on delivery, releases, health, risks, and improvements.

 Review architecture, reusable assets, dependencies, performance, accessibility, and debt.

 Assess CI/CD, build performance, quality controls, and automation opportunities.

 Review capability needs and provide coaching, knowledge sharing, or learning guidance.

 Identify ways to improve developer experience, reuse, design-system adoption,
