Role Description This is a remote, freelance/contract SQL Developer role focused on PostgreSQL, requiring 8+ years of relevant experience. The professional in this role will design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and database objects for high-performance applications.

Day-to-day responsibilities include building and maintaining data models, implementing and monitoring ETL processes, and ensuring data integrity, security, and reliability across environments. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, translating them into scalable database solutions, and troubleshooting performance or data-related issues.



The contractor will document technical solutions, follow best practices for version control and deployment, and contribute to continuous improvement of data architecture.

Qualifications

- Solid database development skills, including SQL programming, performance tuning, and working with PostgreSQL in production environments.
- Experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, including data integration, cleansing, and automation using ETL tools or custom scripts.
- Proficiency in database design and data modeling, covering normalization, indexing strategies, schema design, and relational data structures.
- Solid analytical skills to interpret complex data, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and propose effective technical solutions.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Developer, Database Engineer, or similar role, preferably with strong emphasis on PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and experience working in agile or iterative development environments.
- Understanding of data security, backup and recovery, and high availability concepts.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with remote, cross-functional teams.
