About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned and strategic Finance Head to lead the financial strategy, operations, governance, and compliance of a high-growth SaaS startup in India.

This is a senior leadership role that goes beyond accounting. You will be a strategic business partner to the CEO, Board, and investors, helping shape the company's financial future while driving scale, profitability, capital efficiency, and operational rigor.

The company operates a rapidly scaling B2B SaaS business with a large enterprise customer base, complex billing operations, and significant transaction volumes.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

- Define and drive the overall financial strategy aligned with the company's growth and fundraising roadmap
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to shape business strategy through financial insights
- Manage fundraising plans,



capital structure, cash runway, and capital allocation
- Analyze and present financial reports, forecasts, and business insights to the Board
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support growth, profitability, and long-term value creation

Investor Relations

- Own and manage investor relationships, building trust through proactive and transparent financial communication
- Lead preparation of investor decks, Board packs, MIS reports, and due diligence documentation
- Work closely with existing investors and support preparation for future fundraising rounds
- Manage relationships with banks, lenders, and financial institutions
- Ensure timely and accurate financial information for investors and other key stakeholders

Financial Planning & Analysis

- Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and scenario modelling
- Track company performance against forecasts and work with business leaders to identify and mitigate risks
- Lead cash-flow management and financial risk assessment
- Develop and monitor key SaaS metrics, unit economics, revenue performance, and growth KPIs
- Provide actionable insights to business leaders based on financial and operational data

Controllership & Compliance

- Oversee client billing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and reduction of billing errors, credit notes, and customer queries
- Manage the payables function and ensure timely and accurate payments
- Ensure accounting activities and internal audits comply with applicable financial regulations
- Oversee statutory audits, internal controls, and financial governance
- Oversee taxation, legal, secretarial, and compliance functions
- Ensure appropriate financial controls and processes are established as the business scales
- Support acquisitions, mergers, and consolidation of financial statements

Team Leadership

- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance team across controllership, FP&A;, taxation, legal, and compliance




- Foster a high-ownership, high-performance culture within the finance function
- Establish KPIs and drive accountability against business outcomes
- Develop finance talent and build a scalable organizational structure to support future growth

Requirements

Core Competencies, Knowledge & Experience

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)
- 12–15 years of total post-qualification experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a Finance Head, Director – Finance, or Finance Controller role, with end-to-end ownership of the finance function
- Proven experience in a growth-stage, investor-backed SaaS startup or Pre/Post-IPO environment
- Strong experience working in fast-growing businesses with a high-ownership and accountability culture
- Demonstrated experience in investor relations, including managing existing investors and supporting fundraising rounds
- Deep expertise in business finance, including unit economics, SaaS metrics, revenue modelling, and growth KPIs
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, corporate finance, accounting principles, applicable laws, and best practices
- Proven experience building and scaling finance teams of 5 members
- Working knowledge of acquisitions, mergers, and consolidation of financial statements
- Strong strategic leadership and Board-level communication skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to translate data into business decisions
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial orientation and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced startup environment
