NEVE JEWELS GROUP
Finance Business Partner — Tech
ROLE OVERVIEW The Tech Finance Business Partner is the finance lens embedded inside the group's Technology function — the day-to-day finance partner to the CTO and the Tech leadership team on cost, capex, vendor and investment decisions.
Neve's Tech function is a material and growing area of investment — spanning D2C platforms, ERP and finance systems, data infrastructure, and internal development. Every one of these decisions carries commercial consequence, and the group needs a dedicated finance partner to bring cost transparency, ROI discipline, and vendor governance to the conversation.
The role reports solid-line into the Head of FP&A; + Business Partnering — preserving the independence and standard-setting authority of finance — and dotted-line into the CTO, ensuring day-to-day partnership, presence in Tech leadership forums, and immediate commercial support.
This is a role we are building for someone early in their business partnering career. We are looking for a bright, ambitious finance professional who has 3 to 5 years of experience and wants to step into a full commercial finance partnership role, growing into it over time as they build credibility with the Tech leadership team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cost Transparency & Tech Opex
- Own the finance view on the Tech function's operating cost base — SaaS licences, platform costs, cloud infrastructure, data infrastructure, MarTech, telephony and any other recurring tech spend
- Deliver monthly variance analysis on Tech opex against budget and forecast — with clear commentary on drivers, cadence and outlook
- Partner with Tech leadership on cost optimisation opportunities — licence rationalisation, vendor consolidation, spend visibility across teams
Vendor Management from a Finance Lens
- Build and maintain the register of material tech vendors, contract terms, renewal dates and commercial exposures
- Support the CTO and Tech leadership on renewal negotiations — benchmark analysis, alternative supplier assessment, commercial term review
- Ensure contracts are commercially efficient and renewal risks are visible early — no renewal should be a surprise to finance
Capex, Project ROI & Investment Decisions
- Own the business-case framework for material tech investments — internal development projects, ERP evolution, data infrastructure, platform migration
- Partner with the CTO on capex decisions — including capitalisation of internal development labour under applicable accounting standards
- Track ROI delivery on approved investments — did the case hold up, what did we learn, what should we do differently next time
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles for the Tech function — cost base, capex plan, headcount planning
- Provide monthly management reporting on Tech performance to the CTO, the Head of FP&A; + BP, and to Central FP&A; for consolidation
- Ensure Tech numbers reported to the CTO, to the CFO and to the Board reconcile — one source of truth, defensible under scrutiny
Governance & Partnership
- Partner with the VP Accounts & Finance on tech-related accounting matters — capitalisation policy, prepaid licences, contract accounting
- Partner with the Head of GSS (AP) on vendor payment discipline and payment terms
- Represent finance in the CTO's operating rhythm — Monthly Business Review, project reviews, vendor reviews, roadmap sessions
- Build finance credibility with the Tech function over time — as an intelligent partner on cost, ROI and commercial rigour
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 3 to 5 years of progressive finance experience — of which at least 1 to 2 years in an FP&A;, commercial finance, or finance business partnering role
- Track record of working in a growth-stage business — D2C, retail, e-commerce, technology, consumer or comparable
- Exposure to tech opex, SaaS licences,
cloud infrastructure spend or vendor management is a robust preference; comfort with these categories is essential for the role
- Demonstrable analytical rigour — variance analysis, business-case modelling, cost transparency work
- Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA) or MBA finance preferred; strong finance foundation essential regardless of qualification path
- Comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders — capable of engaging the CTO and Tech leadership constructively, and growing into a peer partnership over time
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Strong command of Excel and financial modelling — variance analysis, scenario testing, business-case modelling
- Familiarity with finance ERPs
- Working knowledge of SaaS and cloud cost models, licence structures and vendor pricing conventions
- Understanding of accounting for internally developed software, prepaid licences and vendor contracts — sufficient to partner with controllership on capitalisation and expense treatment
- Curiosity about tech, systems and how finance data flows through the business — this role will benefit from someone who genuinely wants to understand the tech stack, not just report on its cost
PROFILE & STYLE This is a growth role — a first or second business partnering role for a bright, ambitious mid-level finance professional. We are looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially curious, and genuinely interested in the tech stack, the vendor economics, and the investment decisions that shape a growing D2C group's technology function.
The right person is comfortable operating in a scale-up finance function that is being built around them. They are comfortable being embedded in a technical function without being intimidated by the domain. They are willing to learn the tech vocabulary, ask the awkward cost questions, and hold the line on ROI discipline even when the answer is “not yet worth it.”
Comfortable with imperfect data and evolving systems in the short term. Disciplined about building for the long term. Ambitious about the trajectory of the role — this is the beginning of a business partnering career, not the end.
