Role Description The ETP Chemist will work full time, on-site at ZEXCORP’s facility in West Bengal, India, supporting the efficient and compliant operation of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs). This role involves monitoring and analyzing influent and effluent water quality, conducting routine and special chemical tests, and maintaining accurate records of all laboratory results. The ETP Chemist will assist in optimizing treatment processes, preparing and dosing chemicals, and ensuring adherence to environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
Daily tasks include calibrating laboratory instruments, documenting observations, preparing technical reports, and coordinating with plant operations and environmental engineers to resolve process issues.
The role also requires active participation in safety practices, housekeeping in laboratory and plant areas, and continuous improvement initiatives for treatment efficiency and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong laboratory and analytical skills, including water and wastewater testing, chemical analysis, and familiarity with standard methods and instrumentation (e.g., pH meters, spectrophotometers, COD/BOD testing).
- Candidates should possess process and environmental compliance skills, including understanding of ETP operations, effluent treatment chemistry, waste management principles, and applicable environmental regulations and standards.
- Candidates should possess documentation and reporting skills, including accurate data recording, preparation of test reports, maintenance of logs, and basic proficiency in using office and lab software tools.
- Candidates should possess safety and quality-oriented skills, including adherence to safety protocols, awareness of ISO-based quality and environmental management systems, and commitment to good laboratory practices.
- Candidates should possess collaborative and communication skills, including the ability to work in cross-functional teams, coordinate with operations staff and engineers, and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience working in an ETP, STP, or industrial wastewater treatment facility will be considered an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in West Bengal, India, with flexibility for shift-based operations as required.
