– Engineer - Execution (Civil)

Designation: Engineer - Execution (Civil)

Reporting To: Project Manager / Construction Manager
Location: Project Site
Employment Type: Full-Time
- Job Purpose To execute civil construction activities at the project site in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, project schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual requirements, while ensuring timely and efficient completion of assigned works.
- Key Responsibilities
A. Site Execution
- Execute day-to-day civil construction activities as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Supervise activities such as excavation, PCC, RCC, reinforcement, shuttering, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, road works, drainage and other civil works as applicable.
- Ensure work is carried out as per approved method statements and sequence of construction.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, labour teams, surveyors and other site personnel.
- Ensure proper deployment and utilisation of manpower, materials, machinery and equipment.
- Monitor daily progress against the planned targets.
- Identify site constraints and coordinate with seniors for timely resolution.
B. Drawing & Technical Coordination
- Study and understand IFC drawings, GFC drawings, structural drawings, architectural drawings and specifications.
- Ensure execution is carried out strictly as per approved drawings.
- Coordinate with the Planning, Billing, Design and QA/QC teams for technical requirements.
- Raise RFIs/TQs for discrepancies, missing information or technical clarifications.
- Ensure approved revisions of drawings are available at site and obsolete drawings are not used.
C. Quality Control
- Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications and approved quality standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC engineers for inspections and testing.
- Check reinforcement, shuttering, levels, dimensions, line and alignment before concrete works.
- Ensure proper inspection requests are raised before covering or proceeding with critical activities.
- Monitor concrete pouring, curing and other quality-critical activities.
- Ensure rectification of defective or non-conforming work.
D. Measurement & Documentation
- Maintain daily records of work executed at site.
- Prepare daily progress reports and activity-wise productivity records.
- Record quantities executed and coordinate with the Billing Engineer for measurements.
- Maintain pour cards, checklists, inspection records and other required site documentation.
- Assist in preparation and verification of subcontractor measurements.
E. Planning & Productivity
- Execute work in accordance with the approved project programme.
- Achieve daily and weekly targets assigned by the Project Manager/Construction Manager.
- Monitor labour and equipment productivity.
- Highlight delays, bottlenecks and resource requirements in advance.
- Coordinate with the Planning Engineer for look-ahead planning and recovery plans.
F. Material Management
- Ensure availability of required construction materials before commencement of activities.
- Coordinate with the Store/Purchase team for material requirements.
- Monitor proper utilisation and handling of construction materials.
- Minimise material wastage and report shortages or quality issues immediately.
G. Safety
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with project HSE requirements.
- Follow safe work practices and ensure workers use appropriate PPE.
- Coordinate with the Safety team for permits, toolbox talks and safe execution of activities.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses.
H. Subcontractor & Labour Management
- Supervise subcontractor activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Allocate daily work fronts and targets to work teams.
- Monitor manpower deployment and productivity.
- Ensure subcontractors execute work as per drawings, specifications, quality and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with subcontractors for resolving day-to-day execution issues.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of daily/weekly/monthly execution targets.
- Productivity of manpower and equipment.
- Quality and reduction of rework.
- Compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Timely completion of assigned activities.
- Effective utilisation of materials and resources.
- Timely submission of site records and measurements.
- Safety compliance and zero major safety violations.
- Effective coordination with Planning, Billing, QA/QC and HSE teams.
- Required Qualification
Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Experience
Experience: 2–6 years of relevant experience in civil construction/project execution.
Experience in infrastructure, industrial, buildings, water & environment, STP/ETP, roads or other relevant construction projects will be preferred.
- Required Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of civil construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Knowledge of RCC, reinforcement, shuttering, masonry and finishing works.
- Basic knowledge of surveying and levels.
- Knowledge of construction materials and their application.
- Understanding of quality control and site inspection procedures.
- Basic knowledge of quantity measurement and billing.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an advantage.
