Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Director of Engineering role based in Mumbai. The person in this position will lead and mentor engineering teams, set technical direction, and ensure high-quality delivery of scalable fintech products and platforms. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing software development lifecycles, managing project roadmaps, and coordinating cross-functional collaboration with product, design, operations, and business stakeholders.
The role involves guiding architectural decisions, ensuring robust system integration with internal and external services, and enforcing best practices in code quality, security, performance, and reliability.
The Director of Engineering / Engineering Manager will also be responsible for building a strong engineering culture, optimizing processes, and supporting hiring, onboarding, and professional development of team members.
Qualifications
- Strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills, with experience guiding, mentoring, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Hands-on Software Development experience, ideally in fintech or high-availability, high-scale platforms (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Node.js, Python, or similar).
- Proven Project Management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and delivery in agile environments.
- Expertise in system Integration, APIs, and working with third-party services, payment gateways, and internal microservices.
- Solid understanding of system architecture, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), security, and performance optimization.
- Experience building and maintaining secure, compliant systems; familiarity with financial services or regulated environments is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical decisions with business goals.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement, foster an inclusive team culture, and support continuous learning and innovation.
