Job Title: Dialysis Technician
Department: Dialysis Unit
Reports To: Dialysis In-Charge
1. Job Summary
The Dialysis Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient technical management of hemodialysis procedures, including preparation and operation of dialysis machines, patient preparation, monitoring of dialysis parameters, equipment maintenance, infection prevention, and accurate documentation.
1. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Dialysis Procedure
- Prepare dialysis machines, dialyzers, bloodlines, and other required equipment before each session.
- Perform machine priming and pre-dialysis safety checks as per hospital protocol.
- Assist the nursing staff and nephrologist during initiation and termination of dialysis.
- Monitor dialysis machine parameters throughout the procedure.
- Identify and respond appropriately to machine alarms.
- Observe the patient during dialysis and immediately report any abnormal findings to the nurse/doctor.
- Assist in dialysis-related emergencies as directed by the clinical team.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of dialysis equipment after every session.
B. Patient Care Support
- Prepare the dialysis station and patient before commencement of treatment.
- Verify patient identity and dialysis prescription before starting the procedure.
- Maintain patient safety, comfort, privacy, and dignity.
- Record pre-, intra-, and post-dialysis parameters accurately.
- Assist nursing staff with patient positioning and transfer when required.
C. Infection Prevention & Control
- Strictly follow hospital infection prevention and control policies.
- Maintain proper hand hygiene and use PPE appropriately.
- Follow aseptic techniques during dialysis-related procedures.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of machines and dialysis areas.
- Follow biomedical waste segregation and disposal procedures.
- Follow protocols for prevention of blood-borne infections.
D. Equipment Management
- Perform routine checks of dialysis machines and associated equipment.
- Report equipment malfunction or maintenance requirements immediately.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and calibration as instructed.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of dialysis equipment.
- Ensure emergency equipment is available and functional.
E. Inventory Management
- Monitor availability of dialyzers, bloodlines, concentrates, disinfectants, and other consumables.
- Inform the Dialysis In-Charge about shortages or stock requirements.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of dialysis supplies.
- Minimize wastage of consumables.
F. Documentation
- Maintain accurate dialysis treatment records.
- Record machine parameters and treatment-related details.
- Maintain machine cleaning and disinfection records.
- Complete departmental checklists, registers, and other required documentation.
- Ensure records comply with hospital and NABH requirements.
G. Quality & Safety
- Follow hospital SOPs, policies, and dialysis unit protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and departmental audits.
- Report incidents, near misses, and equipment-related problems promptly.
- Participate in mandatory training and competency assessments.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic dialysis environment.
1. Educational Qualification
Mandatory:
- B.Sc. Dialysis Technology
- OR
- Diploma in Dialysis Technology (D.D.T.) / equivalent recognized qualificationKerala Paramedical Council registration is mandatory.
1. Experience
- Previous experience in a hospital dialysis unit is preferred.
- Experience handling hemodialysis machines and dialysis procedures will be an advantage.
- Freshers may be considered if they meet the required educational and registration criteria.

- Ability to work effectively with nephrologists, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Good documentation skills.
- Ability to remain calm during emergencies.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts.

1. Working Conditions
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts.
- May be required to work on weekends and public holidays as per the duty roster.
- Must comply with all hospital safety, infection control, and professional conduct requirements.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: From ₹15,000.00 per month
