Job Summary The Deputy General Manager (DGM) / Head – Manufacturing supports the General Manager/Plant Head in overseeing end-to-end production operations. The role focuses on achieving production targets, improving operational efficiency, ensuring quality compliance, and leading shop-floor teams.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

• Plan, organize, and control manufacturing operations (machining, fabrication, assembly)

- Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets
- Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective actions

Process Optimization

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Kaizen, and 5S
- Optimize machine utilization, manpower, and cycle time
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements

Quality Control

- Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
- Reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to maintain quality compliance

Maintenance Coordination

- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with the maintenance team
- Minimize machine downtime and improve equipment efficiency.

Manpower Management

- Lead and supervise shop floor staff, supervisors, and engineers
- Ensure effective shift planning and manpower allocation
- Train and develop employees to enhance productivity

Safety & Compliance

- Enforce safety standards and statutory compliance
- Promote a safe working environment and minimize incidents





Inventory & Material Planning

- Coordinate with stores and procurement for timely material availability
- Prevent production delays due to shortages or excess inventory

Reporting & MIS

- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly production reports
- Track KPIs such as OEE, rejection rate, downtime, and delivery performance

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC, fabrication, assembly)
- Leadership and team management skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools
- Valuable communication and cross-functional coordination skills
- Familiarity with ERP systems

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering

- MBA (Operations) – Preferred

Experience

• 15–25 years in the manufacturing/engineering industry

• 3–5 years in a senior supervisory/managerial role
