Founder’s Office Intern | Content, Storytelling & Partnerships
Remote | 3–6 Months | Unpaid Internship
Opportunity to Transition into a Paid / Full-Time Role
Company Description The Doctors Collective is building a storytelling and media platform around the people behind medicine.
Founded by a physician, we exist to document the stories that rarely make it into medical journals, hospital websites, or LinkedIn bios: the decisions, sacrifices, failures, ambitions, identities, and experiences that shape doctors beyond the white coat.
We interview physicians, explore the practices and organizations they are building, collaborate with healthcare brands, and create thoughtful content at the intersection of medicine, people, culture, and storytelling.
Our ambition is simple: build a platform where the most meaningful stories in healthcare deserve to be told, and told exceptionally well.
Role Description
We are looking for a Founder’s Office Intern who wants to learn how stories, media, partnerships, and brand-building come together from the ground up.
This is not a narrowly defined “content internship.”
You will work closely with the founding team across storytelling, interviewing, scriptwriting, video production, partnerships, outreach, marketing, and editorial strategy.
One day you may be researching a physician before an interview.
The next, you may be writing the opening hook for their story, editing a reel, reaching out to a healthcare brand for a collaboration, or helping us shape an entirely recent content format.
We are looking for someone who enjoys turning a blank page into something worth reading, watching, or sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Research doctors, healthcare professionals, practices, organizations, and emerging healthcare stories
- Identify compelling angles and uncover the story behind the obvious story
- Prepare thoughtful interview questions and conduct conversations with doctors and industry professionals
- Transform interviews into compelling articles, scripts, reels, captions, and digital narratives
- Write hooks, brand scripts, founder-led content, and short-form video concepts
- Participate in shooting and producing original content
- Record voice-overs for short-form videos and storytelling formats
- Edit reels and short-form videos using CapCut or similar tools
- Design supporting visual assets using Canva
- Identify doctors, practices, healthcare brands, and organizations that could be meaningful partners for the platform
- Conduct outreach and help initiate partnership conversations
- Develop concepts that allow brands and organizations to share their stories authentically through The Doctors Collective
- Experiment with new formats, distribution strategies, campaigns, and audience-growth ideas
- Work directly with the founding team to take ideas from concept to execution to publication
Ideal Candidate
We care far more about how you think and execute than what degree is written on your resume.
You may be a strong fit if you:
- Write clearly, thoughtfully, and without unnecessary jargon
- Are deeply curious about people and know how to ask positive questions
- Understand what makes a story interesting, or are obsessed with learning
- Can turn complex conversations into simple, engaging narratives
- Are comfortable speaking with doctors, founders, executives, and senior professionals
- Are not afraid to send a thoughtful cold email or initiate a conversation
- Have an instinct for strong hooks, storytelling, and digital content
- Have working knowledge of Canva, CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar tools, or can learn quickly
- Notice details others miss
- Take feedback seriously and improve fast
- Are comfortable working in an early-stage environment where not everything comes with instructions
- Show initiative instead of waiting to be assigned every next step
- Can commit consistently for a minimum of 3–6 months A healthcare background is useful, but not required.
Good judgment, curiosity, communication, and ownership matter more.
What You Will Gain
- Direct mentorship and exposure to the founding team
- Hands-on experience building an early-stage healthcare media platform
- Practical experience across storytelling, interviewing, editorial strategy, partnerships, marketing, and video production
- Opportunities to interact directly with doctors, founders, healthcare leaders, and industry experts
- Published, portfolio-quality work that you can actually point to
- The opportunity to build stories and projects from scratch rather than simply assist on them
- Experience understanding how a brand grows, from content creation to partnerships and distribution
- Internship Certificate and a strong Letter of Recommendation for exceptional contributors
- Chance to transition into a paid or full-time position based on performance, contribution, and organizational requirements
Most importantly, you will leave with something more valuable than a bullet point on your resume:
proof of what you can build.
Compensation
This is an unpaid internship.
We are stating that clearly because we want every applicant to make an informed decision before applying.
This opportunity is designed for someone who values hands-on learning, meaningful ownership, mentorship, access, and the opportunity to build a body of work from the ground up.
We do not expect interns to simply observe.
You will be trusted with real work, real conversations, and real creative responsibility.
Exceptional contributors will be considered for paid and longer-term opportunities as The Doctors Collective continues to grow.
How to Apply
Apply directly via LinkedIn or email us with:
- Your resume
- A short note telling us why this role interests you and which aspect of content you love - scripting, video, writing, editing, interviewing
- One piece of storytelling/content you admire, and briefly, why you think it works
- Samples of anything you have written, filmed, edited, interviewed, designed, marketed, or built, if available
P.S. You do not need a polished portfolio.
If you have never published anything before, or if this would be your first internship, that is completely fine.
We are more interested in seeing curiosity, initiative, taste, and evidence that you are willing to build.
If you are waiting for someone to tell you exactly what to do every day, this may not be the right internship.
If the idea of being handed a problem, figuring it out, and creating something from nothing excites you, we would love to hear from you.
