Company Description Niyamtra AI is an AI-enabled platform focused on enhancing manufacturing safety and process intelligence at scale for heavy industries such as mining, power, and steel. The company leverages advanced computer vision and machine learning to monitor complex industrial environments and improve operational decision-making.

Role Description As a Computer Vision Intern at Niyamtra AI, you will support the development, testing, and optimization of computer vision models for real-world industrial safety and process monitoring applications. Day-to-day tasks may include collecting and annotating visual datasets, implementing and experimenting with algorithms for object detection, tracking, and activity recognition, and evaluating model performance using appropriate metrics.

You will collaborate with the engineering and data science teams to integrate vision solutions into the platform, troubleshoot issues, and document your findings.

Qualifications

- Foundational knowledge of computer vision and machine learning, including experience with image processing, feature extraction, and deep learning concepts.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with common ML/CV libraries such as OpenCV, NumPy, TensorFlow or PyTorch.




- Understanding of data handling workflows, including dataset preparation, labeling, augmentation, and basic model evaluation techniques.
- Ability to read and implement research ideas from academic papers, and to experiment with different architectures and hyperparameters.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; prior project or internship experience in computer vision is a plus.
- Interest in applications of AI in manufacturing, safety monitoring, and industrial automation; familiarity with heavy industry operations is beneficial but not required.

Positive to Have:

- Experience with object detection or tracking (e.g. YOLO, ByteTrack).
- Any exposure to model optimisation or edge deployment (ONNX, TensorRT, Jetson).
- Any Experience labelling or curating your own datasets.
- Interest in industrial, safety, or measurement problems.
