Drawing inspiration from shoaling fish, the platform emphasizes organic social cohesion and user agency over algorithmic manipulation. Features like rooms capped at six participants, collective “veto power” over content, synchronous engagement tools, and vibe-based matching foster authentic co-presence. Shoal is building a new social architecture focused on meaningful interaction, not passive consumption.

Role Description The cofounder role at Shoal is a full time remote position responsible for driving strategic growth, partnerships, and ecosystem development. This role will identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships with creators, communities, platforms, and potential distribution or technology collaborators that align with Shoal’s synchronous social vision.

Day-to-day responsibilities include building and maintaining key external relationships, developing joint go-to-market initiatives, and collaborating with product, engineering, and marketing to integrate partner feedback and co-create new experiences. The Partner will analyze market trends and user behavior, refine partnership strategy, and ensure all collaborations enhance Shoal’s core experience of intimate, high-fidelity social engagement.



This role also involves representing Shoal at relevant events, advocating for the product, and helping shape the long-term partnership roadmap.

Qualifications

- Experience in partnership development, business development, or strategic alliances, with a track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing high-impact deals.
- Background in social media, consumer tech, creator economy, or entertainment, with strong understanding of online communities and content ecosystems.
- Skills in stakeholder management and relationship-building, including the ability to work with creators, community leaders, and external platforms.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills to evaluate opportunities, interpret market and user data, and build clear business cases.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaborative skills, enabling effective work with cross-functional remote teams (product, engineering, marketing, operations).
- Comfort operating in an early-stage, fast-paced environment, with a bias toward experimentation, iteration, and decisive execution.
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting, manage multiple partnership initiatives, and maintain organized, transparent processes.
- Relevant experience in startup or growth-stage companies; familiarity with synchronous, real-time or social products is a strong plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
