Job Summary The Cloud Operations Engineer is an entry-level role for someone early in their cloud/DevOps career who wants to build hands-on experience across infrastructure, automation, and production support. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this person will support Azure infrastructure, assist with Kubernetes operations, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and help maintain monitoring and incident response practices, with a strong emphasis on scripting and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support cloud infrastructure provisioning and maintenance on Azure using Terraform under senior engineer guidance.
- Execute and maintain CI/CD deployment processes.
- Monitor dashboards and alerts and help maintain runbooks and operational documentation.
- Participate in on-call rotations, triage incidents, and escalate issues per established procedures.
- Write and maintain scripts to automate repetitive operational tasks.
- Support root cause analysis and documentation of incident findings under senior guidance.
- Assist with cloud networking, identity, and cost-tracking tasks.
- Collaborate with development and security teams on deployment and operational activities.
- Continuously learn and stay updated on emerging cloud and DevOps technologies, tools, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science,
Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience (including internships, academic projects, or skilled experience) in Cloud Operations, DevOps, Infrastructure Support, or related fields.
- Foundational knowledge of Azure cloud services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Identity)
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM Templates
- Basic understanding of containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Octopus Deploy
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, Grafana, or Prometheus
- Understanding of incident management and troubleshooting practices, including ticketing tools such as Jira or ServiceNow
- Basic awareness of cloud networking and security concepts (VNets, NSGs, RBAC, Key Vault)
- Understanding of cloud cost management concepts and tools
- Strong scripting/programming skills in Python (preferred), PowerShell, Bash, Go, Java, or similar languages
- Good communication skills and eagerness to learn in a mentorship-driven environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
