About the Role

We are looking for an experienced CICS Systems Programmer with strong hands-on experience in CICS Administration, CICS Upgrades, and CICS SMP/E in an IBM z/OS environment.

This is a CICS infrastructure/system programming role, not a CICS application development role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, upgrade, performance, and production support of enterprise CICS environments.

The environment includes 1,000+ CICS regions across multiple LPARS, supporting mission-critical applications with high availability requirements.

MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have hands-on experience in all three areas below:

- CICS Administration CICS region management, configuration, resource definitions, startup/shutdown, CICS systems maintenance, and region support.
- CICS Upgrades – Hands-on experience performing or supporting CICS Transaction Server upgrades/migrations.
- CICS SMP/E – Hands-on experience with CICS installation and maintenance using SMP/E, including PTFs, fixes, APPLY/ACCEPT, and maintenance activities.

Candidates with only COBOL/CICS application development or application support experience will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM CICS Transaction Server environments on z/OS.
- Perform CICS administration and region management across development, test, and production environments.
- Build, configure, clone, start, stop, recycle, and decommission CICS regions as required.
- Perform CICS upgrades, migrations, maintenance, RSU and PTF installation.




- Use SMP/E for CICS product installation, maintenance, fixes, and vendor updates.
- Define and maintain CICS resources using RDO/CSD and related CICS facilities.
- Configure and maintain CICS system parameters and support CICS region tailoring.
- Monitor CICS environments and investigate performance, availability, storage, transaction, and system issues.
- Troubleshoot complex CICS infrastructure/system problems and perform root-cause analysis.
- Support application development teams with CICS region and resource requirements.
- Monitor CICS health and performance using tools such as OMEGAMON, MainView, TMON, or CA SYSVIEW.
- Support integration of CICS with DB2, MQ, VSAM, IMS, and other z/OS subsystems.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution.
- Support production-critical environments and participate in 24x7/on-call rotations.
- Work with IBM/vendor support teams for complex CICS issues, maintenance, dumps, traces, and problem resolution.
- Follow change management, incident management, and operational procedures for mission-critical environments.

Work Environment

This is a mission-critical production environment supporting high-availability CICS infrastructure. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, collaboration with application and infrastructure teams, and participation in 24x7/on-call support and planned maintenance activities.
