Role Description The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a full-time, in office leadership role based in Chennai, responsible for overseeing clinical quality, patient safety, and medical governance across Be Well Hospitals. The CMO will provide strategic direction for medical services, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission of accessible and high-quality care, and will work closely with hospital leadership to develop and implement clinical protocols and standards of care. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising medical staff, reviewing complex clinical cases, supporting utilization management, and collaborating with department heads to optimize resource allocation and care pathways.

The CMO will lead medical affairs initiatives,



including clinical education, policy development, and regulatory compliance, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based practice. The role also involves engaging with managed care partners, contributing to strategic planning, and representing medical leadership in internal and external stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications

- Strong clinical background and expertise in Medicine, with board certification or equivalent qualification in a relevant specialty.
- Proficiency in Utilization Management to ensure appropriate, efficient, and cost-effective use of clinical resources.
- Experience in Medical Affairs, including clinical governance, policy development, and physician engagement.
- Knowledge of Managed Care models and the ability to collaborate with payers and partners to optimize care delivery.
- Demonstrated capability in Strategic Planning for hospital or health system operations and clinical service development.
- Advanced degree such as MD/MBBS with postgraduate specialization; additional qualifications in healthcare administration or public health are an advantage.
- Proven leadership experience in a hospital or multi-site healthcare setting, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus among multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, ethical medical practice, and adherence to regulatory standards.
