Role Description The Chess Instructor role at TalentGum is a part-time remote position focused on teaching chess to learners aged 5 to 14 years through live online sessions. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning age-appropriate lesson plans, delivering engaging and interactive chess classes, and adapting teaching methods to different skill levels from beginner to advanced.

The instructor will demonstrate chess concepts, strategies, and tactics,



guide learners through practice games, and provide constructive feedback to help improve their skills. Additional tasks include tracking student progress, communicating with parents or guardians as needed, and collaborating with the TalentGum team to enhance course materials and overall learning experiences.

Qualifications

- Strong chess proficiency, with the ability to teach opening principles, tactics, endgames, and strategic thinking.
- Comfort with basic Mathematics concepts that support logical reasoning and pattern recognition in chess.
- Demonstrated Teaching, Tutoring, or Training experience with children or young learners in an online or classroom setting.
- Ability to design structured lessons, manage interactive virtual classes, and use online teaching tools effectively.
- Clear, patient, and encouraging communication skills, with a focus on creating an inclusive and supportive learning setting.
- Prior experience as a chess coach, instructor, or competitive player (rated or tournament experience is an advantage).
- Reliable internet connection, familiarity with video conferencing platforms, and basic technical troubleshooting skills.
- Relevant academic background or certifications in education, coaching, or chess training are beneficial but not mandatory.
