Role Overview The Category Manager will own the end-to-end P&L, growth, and content strategy for an assigned exam category at Oliveboard. This is a high-ownership, business-critical role — you will act as the
"mini-CEO" of your category, driving revenue, learner outcomes, and market share, while working closely with Marketing, Content, Faculty, Product, and Tech teams.
Key Responsibilities
- P&L Ownership — Own revenue, cost, and profitability targets for the assigned category;
forecast demand cycles around exam calendars and drive pricing/packaging decisions.
- Category Strategy — Build and execute the go-to-market strategy for recent and existing courses/test-series within the category; identify white spaces and expansion opportunities.
- Content & Product Roadmap — Partner with content and faculty teams to define course structure, curriculum depth, and product features that improve learning outcomes and conversion.
- Faculty Management — Source, onboard, and manage relationships with subject-matter experts and faculty; monitor teaching quality and learner satisfaction.
- Marketing Collaboration — Work with performance and brand marketing to plan category-
specific campaigns, funnel optimization, and seasonal (exam-notification-driven) pushes.
- Competitive Intelligence — Track competitor offerings, pricing, and market trends within the category; proactively adjust strategy to stay ahead.
- Data-Driven Decision Making — Use funnel, cohort,
and retention data to identify drop-off points and drive continuous improvement in enrollment and course completion.
- Cross-Functional Coordination — Act as the single point of accountability across Tech,
Design, Support, and Operations for all category-related initiatives.
Requirements
Must-Have
3–5 years of experience in product/category management, business management, or P&L ownership roles — preferably in EdTech, e-commerce, D2C, or consumer internet.
Strong analytical skills — comfortable working with data, cohort analysis, and funnel metrics to make decisions.
Proven track record of owning revenue/growth targets and delivering results independently.
Excellent stakeholder management skills — able to work across content, marketing, tech,
and faculty teams.
Strong business acumen with the ability to think both strategically and execute hands-on.
Good to Have (Not Mandatory)
Prior experience managing a UPSC, Banking, or SSC exam category is a strong plus — but not required. Candidates from other high-growth consumer/EdTech categories are equally encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with the competitive exam ecosystem in India.
Experience working with faculty/content creators or subject-matter experts.
